Ok. I have way too much hair. We all agree on this. It is too curly but not curly enough, so I try to tame it with a curling iron.

I bought a curling iron/styler from the local Wal-Mart in March or April of 1997. I loved it. It has a regular tong curling iron, two curling brush attachments, a styling brush and a volumizer attachments. This is a hot-air curling iron, the only kind that sets curls that hold all day into my stubborn hair.

In mid-May, I moved. I misplaced the bottom part of it, the part that plugs in and powers the whole thing. I thought it was misplaced, but seven weeks later I have been unable to locate it. I’ve called my mom in Yellowknife, Dad in Edmonton, Sister in Red Deer, friend in Calgary, all the places I visited on the way down to Canmore. Nobody has seen it.

Fine, thought I. I’ll just go buy a new one. The only problem with this plan is that they don’t make them anymore. Sad me!!! My hair has looked like crap from using another curling iron, so I’ve abandoned the idea altogether.

I e-mailed Philips Canada last night at about 8 o’clock, asking if there is one in stock. I had a reply within 10 minutes telling me that I would have a reply from the correct department within 24 hours.

This morning I checked my email, and lo and behold there is a response. Philips Canada has already shipped a replacement to me, at their compliments.

Speedy service and free stuff! This thing cost me about forty-five dollars when I bought it four and a half years ago, so I’m pretty damned impressed. Yay Philips! Everyone buy Philips brand appliances and beauty care accessories!

Curling irons?

Never mind.

I always thought you Canucks curled with “stones”.

I believe they’re called ‘rocks’.
