I never did see all the episodes of the cartoon, only the ones I watched with my kids. If you say Carnage was there, I’ll believe it. Seems like they’d have to tone him WAY the hell down, though.
At one point, some outfit (either the government, or Roxxon, Marvel’s all-purpose evil corporation) got hold of Venom and forced the symbiote to spawn five infant symbiotes, so they could bond them to their own operatives; Shriek was one of these. The other four symbiotes died, and it was said, IIRC, that the Venom symbiote would never spawn again.
Then again, this is the comics we’re talking about.
I’ve been keeping up with comics somewhat lately, but I quit keeping up with Marvel continuity, in general, back around 1989 or so, so I couldn’t tell you what Venom’s been up to lately…
Actually, I rather liked the whole symbiote thing and actually think it could make a good plotline for Spider-Man 3, if they ever make one. Of course, I’ve only ever watched the 90s cartoon, as I’ve never liked actually reading comic books (but that’s a subject for a different thread, which I might actually finally start sometime.)
The costume was removed by Reed Richards in ASM#258. Richards used a sonic blaster and attempted to store it in the Baxter Building. Rather than show his identity to the Fantastic Four, he went home in Jonny Storm’s old uniform with a bag over his head and a “Kick Me” sign taped to his back. (Enter the Unkown Superhero.)
The costume escaped after repeatedly pounding on its jar and making a small crack which it oozed out through. It’s attempt at getting back to Spidey is when the above mentioned abduction for the “fat spidey” occured. (I’m not sure whether Fat Spidey actually fought crime, or if muggers just saw him and ran away.
The costume finally caught up with Peter Parker just in time for Web #1. Which is where the church and bells came in. I still have no clue how he got home that time.
