One on my kitties, 'Lil loves to eat spiderwebs. I know they are made of protein, but could they hurt her?
None of the others ever touch them. They might chase a spider, but rarely eat it. She will eat any kind of bug. I’ve even seen her eat a live wasp.
She gets a full can of food a day, with dry food available all the time, so I don’t think she’s hungry.
She’s very small, but the vet says she’s healthy, just petit.
Should I be worried?
My cat Tansy will eat spider webs on occasion. I think she’s just going after bugs. Slightly disturbing, but no harm I can see.
One of my cats seems to like the webs too. But Rocky also likes to lick the adhesive off of envelopes and tape. Oh, and he likes the taste of soap. I try to keep most of that stuff out of his reach, but it’s really difficult to do with the sub-basement spider webs.
My Piper used to eat webs all the time. (As well as his tail apparently.) It never seemed to harm him any. He’d eat bugs too except for spiders and ants. It only bothered me when he’d tried to give me a kiss directly afterwards.
