Splashed water on my mp3 player, is there any hope?

This afternoon as I was lifting a bucket of water out of our pool I accidentally sloshed it on my Virgin Pulse mp3 player that was in my pocket. As quickly as I could, I turned it off, removed the battery and removed the back cover. It doesn’t appear to have been soaked, but there were a few drops in the battery compartment and I when I shook it a few came out of the top where the headphone jack is.

Is there any chance that I can just let it dry for a few days and it might work again? Should I try to use a hair dryer on it or let it air dry? Or should I just start shopping for a new one?

Here’s an Epinions page with a description of it, in case that might help.

Thanks y’all,

Water doesnt’ conduct electricty unless it has solutes in it.

Your mp3 player is probably fine. Blow dry it for a while(at a distance) then let it sit for a few days.

Pull out the expansion memory card too.

blow dry the slot.

No moving parts - that’s good. Water can stay in small spaces for an annoyingly long time, but I’d agree that after a few days with all covers off, it should still work fine.

I stupidly left my digital camera on the kitchen counter and found it the next morning in a puddle. It wouldn’t turn on, but I let it dry out for a day or so and it’s worked fine ever since.
