After only seven months of use, my MP3 player is dead. Not because of some manufacturing problem. Not because of shoddy construction. No, it’s much worse. It’s the floor. The floor killed my MP3 player.
Earlier today, I stood up while wearing headphones attached to the player. The player was sitting on a table, and the short headphone cord caused it to fly off the table and slam into the floor. Hard. And now… now… it doesn’t work!
I should have been more careful. Shouldn’t have left it sitting on the table. But I did. Even after past… incidents. The thing has fallen off my bed countless times. It has dents in the case from flying out of my hand and into a wall. It has ceased to operate on one previous occasion. Luckily, the problem was solved by repeatedly slamming the player against a hard surface.
But not this time. Nope, nope. It’s dead. Dead. This is like losing a member of the family. My MP3 player is like a brother to me. A mother. A father. A best friend. God.
Dead.
I think I’m going to cry.
