Spoiler Wanted for "The Light in the Piazza"

I’m considering buying the cast recording, but I’d like to have a sense of the story first. So please – can someone familiar with the libretto spoil The Light in the Piazza for me?

It is a BEAUTIFUL, stunning OCR. You won’t be disappointed. I’ve seen the show twice, once in Chicago and once at Lincoln Center, and it moves me to tears every time I listen to the CD.

Do I need to put this in spoiler code? I will, just in case.

The short version:

It’s essentially the story of a mother and a daughter, Clara, who travel to Florence. Clara meets and falls in love with Fabrizio, an Italian boy who works in his father’s tie shop. Her mother’s against her falling in love because we soon learn that Clara was kicked in the head by a horse at age 12, leaving her permanently brain-damaged and always 12 years old (I think that’s the correct age). It’s basically a struggle for the mother to let Clara go, to let her grow up, even though she’ll never really ‘grow up’, and Clara’s ‘coming of age’, as much as she can.

Definitely get it, Bricker. It will be worth every note.
