Assuming they aren’t there, I submit that they are removed entirely during the day and stored in the back room.
Assuming they are there, ha-ha we win.

I thought the dress was silly-looking.
On the other hand, it didn’t look like any of the other dresses at the ball–I’m guessing it was supposed to look a little out-of-date and hokey; that the dress signals to everyone at the ball that she is not sophisticated, and that is why the men feel able to talk to her.
I liked the very whedonesque bit that the big fight-back scene against Badger’s men that we are expecting never happens.
I also liked that Kaylee didn’t just cave when the Captain insulted her, crying and being hurt, but stood on her dignity and let him know he was scum for doing it. She makes you want to protect her, but she isn’t weak–in my mind, that is what makes her worth protecting.
Everybody go watch Safe. Listen carefully for River’s voice in your head… (j/k)
I believe the pool table was physical. It didn’t flicker out when the balls did. That’s why it got dingy and stained.
Sharper Image catalog of the future:
Yeah, the window need not stop people from going through it, especially since real windows don’t either. Also keep in mind that your typical building window is made from plate glass, which is damned dangerous to fly through if you happen to be made from soft squishy stuff wrapped around bones. Something about it breaking up into razor-sharp knifelike shards that tend to poke holes in you and make you all leaky and stuff. If you have a way to make the window safe for people to fly through (whether it be because you have many fights or because firecodes require you to have a fire exit) then a hologram/forcefield thing is as good as anything else.
Also, as for it being potentially pricey, like you don’t know anyone who lives in a dump but still manages to scratch together enough for a really nice TV or video game system.
