You don’t fight destiny! And you don’t eat crackers in the bed of your future or you get all…scratchy!
Once again, there is a missing episode
(ep 15 aka 2.2 “Alone Together”)

You realize what they are doing, don’t you? Eventually there will be a “Complete Tick” relesae with the missing episodes, and we’ll all have to buy the DVDs again. Bastards!
What was the missing episode from season 1?
The Tick vs. The Mole Men

Ah, I see.
I don’t mind that the mole men episode is missing. I hated that episode to the point of taping over it. Urgh.
But not having “Alone Together”? That’s not good.
“Stop it! Those are his condolence cheeses!”
“Y’know, for such a huge guy, you have some freakishly small feet.”
I also liked what happened to the moon.
I think the consensus was that there is probably a legal reason for not distributing the Mole Men episode and once again an episode is left out that features a very recognizable parody. It could be that there was some behind the scenes legal complications with a certain comic book publisher or it could be that there was some other contractual hang up on those episodes…
See, that is what I do not get. The episodes were broadcast in first run repeatedly. They were broadcast in syndcation on a multitude of stations repeatedly. I seem to recall seeing some sort of Marvel logo on the episodes as well, so there must be some level of connection between the two companies. So it makes no sense to me whatsoever, even leaving aside the horrifying idea of allowing a copyright holder to forbid the distribution of a parody, that if Marvel has some level of ownership or distribution interest in the series that having parodies of Mole Man (or other Marvel subterraneans) and Galactus would be an issue.
I’m with Carl, I could go the rest of my life without seeing the Mole Men episode again (but I still want it for the sake of completeness) but Alone Together is a great episode.
A deal that didn’t include DVD distribution (something which has troubled a lot of television show releases) could be part of it. Or something could have occurred between the points where the episodes stopped being aired regularly and now. Comic book publishers have been traditionally lawsuit happy given that their trademarks are their most important asset and a lawyer getting nervous about some aspects being too close could have done in the distribution of those episodes. In the end it’s just a guess; we have no way of really knowing what is going on unless someone comes out and says something.
