Ok, so it’s been aired already on the East coast and in the Central and Mountain timezones. Who watched it? Is it any good? I’m at work, but I taped it.
So what did you guys think? Opinions, reviews, critiques?

I really liked it. I thought they captured the spirit of the comic book really well–though I could’ve done without some of the cheesier action moments coughbodydoublecough. Patrick Warburton is perfect as the Tick. And Batmanuel cracked my ass up.
You mean there wasn’t a crack there already?
Spoooooooooon!
I sort of liked it. It could have been better. I’m used to the animated series rather than the comics, so my expectations may have been different thatn others. The constant third-person stuff sort of got on my nerves. I liked the emotive antennae a lot. I figure they swapped Batmanuel for Die Fledermaus for costume reasons (and Nestor Carbomel (sp?) is way hot so I don’t mind) but I don’t know why we couldn’t just have American Maid instead of Captain Liberty. And I miss the animated Tick’s voice…
They couldn’t keep either because of some legal reasons pertaining to them being created/used for the cartoon. Or something along those lines. It’s a shame really. So, instead of making up completely new characters, they just embodied the old ones in these two. I do miss American Maid throwing her shoe, though.
I loved the episode. Bat Manuel’s cellphone ring was hilarious.
DAMMIT!!! I missed it!!! <mumble mumble curse>

Anyone posting scripts anywhere???
Lorie
I don’t know about scripts, but I did tape it. Maybe you’d like to come over and watch?
::nudge nudge, wink wink::
Don’t sweat it. You’ll catch a rerun.
I enjoyed it, much to my surprise. I think I was ready to have it suck so my lowered expectations have turned what is possible a mediocre pilot episode into something decent.
My best vote of confidence is that I actually laughed a few times during the episode. Quite a few scenes in the piolot are robbed from the comic and the cartoon so it was fun seeing them re-enacted on the screen.
I was very impressed with the special effects and attention to detail on the set; never found myself breaking ‘suspension of belief’ which is good. About the only thing I was really disapointed in was the ending - it seemed very sudden.
DarkRabbit
Half an hour seemed veeery short. I liked a lot of it. “Who puts gum on a roof?” THAT was a good line.
One thing missing from the live-action version that the cartoon version had? Homosexual subtext. Here Arthur and the Tick live together in their apartment, no one understands them, they wear costumes and go out to superhero bars. Well, this was only the first episode, I imagine that will develop slowly…
I liked it. There were a few moments where I cringed a bit but just a few and I always cut some slack for pilot episodes. Loved the antennae!
“I believe in you, Jimmy Carter. I always have.”
Crunchy Frog
Well, aren’t you the optimistic one! Up against whatever follows Friends and the last half of Survivor? This show has the fetid stench and plaintive bleat of sacrificial lamb all over it.
Lemur
Wait…subtext?!?
Mercutio
A show created by Ben Edlund and aired on FOX can’t use two characters because they appeared on another show created by Ben Edlund and aired on FOX? I love logic!
It was ok, but the cartoonish humor really didn’t translate well into non-cartoon-land. Maybe they’ll get better.
Oh, and on a disturbing sidenote, I was shocked to discover I found Arthur cute in an almost attractive way. That’s just wrong.
Not in the face! Not in the face!
“Ooo, a secret message from my teeth!”
I liked this a lot. It is almost surely doomed.
Arthur : No disrepect intended.
Tick : None comprehended!
It’s a great show, but it’s so off the wall, I don’t expect it to last more than a season or two.
Diego, how is your sister?
I loved it, the only problem was the Jimmy Carter Double could that guy try any harder to cover his face?!?! Other than that I laughed the hard laugh of Justice.
The third person narration was odd at first until I realized here was a guy actually verbalizing the thoughts of every superhero in the comics.
I thought I was going to hate Bat Manuel being a fan of Die Fledermaus but he was great. That costume for Captain Liberty… Is that allowed on TV?
I got a feeling it is too weird to stay on the air… Then again they said the same for Batman in the 60s. You never know.
I live in the same town as the voice-guy who was the Tick’s voice. I was at a dinner party and we were talking - “yada yada, so what do you do?” “I’m a vocal whatever” (I can’t remember how he referred to himself) “Cool, what type of stuff have you done” “yada yada, commercial, radio, yada, and this cartoon you’ve probably never heard of called ‘The Tick’” “THE TICK?! You’re the TICK?!?” “Sppoon!”
He told me it was a lot of fun, but that it very culty - nobody had heard of him, except the few that did were completely nutso about it. But we knew that already, didn’t we?
