Spore Creature Creator available today

I’m stupid and haven’t figured out how to share creatures yet.

I played with the trial version for about 20 minutes last night but got annoyed that I couldn’t alter the body shape of any of my creatures. I was stuck with effectively coloured pipes with body parts stuck on to them as I couldn’t work out how to make the body bigger or smaller etc. Is that somthing that comes with the full version?

I want to buy this game, but will not put SecurRom on my computer. Darn it. And the 360 version just won’t be the same.

The trial version allows you to alter the basic body shape of the creature.

You can alter the thickness of sections of the body by putting the arrow on top of a vertebra and rolling the mouse wheel. That will thicken or thin that section of the body.

You can also make the body shorter or longer by clicking-and-dragging the arrows that appear at both ends of the main body “blob” when you click on it (the body “blob”, I mean).

Finally, clicking and dragging on vertebrae will allow you to curve the body shape.

Hope it helps!

I don’t think sharing’s been enabled yet. Looks like one can only load one’s own creatures and those created by Maxis.

You can upload your creatures to the “Sporepedia”, and you can download other people’s creations from there via web browser. To do that, you have to have opened an account with it (you can do that when you use the editor for the first time).

I have downloaded two examples of other people’s creatures: One which is a Harley Motorcycle and another which is some kind of Danish pastry thing

I’ve done that and all I see are mine and Maxis’.

But see what I said as well: As of now, if you want other creatures, you have to download them manually via web browser.

You enter the Sporepedia via the web browser with your account, and there you will see creatures. There is a “download” link associated to each creature that allows you to download the relevant .PNG with the creature data. You have to put that .PNG in the same folder where you have your creatures. That will add those creatures to your own directory.

I imagine that the process will become automated when Spore itself becomes available in September. For now, you can download other people’s creatures by hand.

I’m very annoyed. Rather than buy the Creature Creator (the purchase price of which, of course, goes towards the cost of the full game), I decided to go ahead and prepurchase the entire game. I figured that the Creature Creator would be included.

Apparently not. It’s looking like if I want the full Creature Creator, I’ll have to buy that separately. I’ve sent in a helpticket (which is the only way to contact EA, apparently), but the only response I got was one asking me for order number, zip code, last four digits of credit card… basically, all the info they should’ve already had, since I had to log into my account just to submit the helpticket!

I looked into canceling my order (so I could just order the Creature Creator)… but you can only do that within 24 hours of ordering if you’ve ordered a digital download. The order cancellation page? Missing- I found links to it, but none of the links took me to it. And hey, no way to call in and cancel the order.

It looks like I’m just going to have to either just use the crippled demo, or waste another ten bucks to pay for something I should’ve already gotten.

Man, I hate EA.

Anyone have problems with running the program?

The program ran for me just once - once! I took a shot at creating a Pierson’s puppeteer, then had to leave for work.

It’s never run for me again. :frowning:

:smack:

Heh. Somebody made Pikachu.

Make that two somebodies.

Make that 85 somebodies.

Now try taking a look at all the penis monsters that’ve already been made.

When the game ships, 90% of the aliens the average player will find as he explores the galaxy will look like a penis.

Looking at other’s creatures depresses me because my suck so uberbadly.

The featured ones are the spore dev’s so don’t feel to bad about them, they’ve had months to play with it
