Spore on the iPhone!

If you follow Apple news, you know they’re doing the iPhone SDK release conference today. Engadget is live blogging it.

Apple did a live demonstration of building a “Hello World” app with the SDK at the conference, then showed an app they built in two days (a photo “editor”, where you can smudge photos using the touchscreen), and one they built in two weeks (a space combat game using the accelerometer for steering and tapping for shooting).

Then they invited some other companies to try out the SDK for a couple weeks to see what they could develop. EA developed a “cartoony” version of Spore.

So…Spore on the iPhone! Cool!

And now, Sega.

“Super Monkey Ball was a natural choice” Played entirely with the accelerometer. Wow.

I knew opening the SDK up would lead to a bunch of cool applications, but I never considered major companies jumping on board, especially with big-name games.

I’m really ready for the next-gen iPhone to come out. I’ve come to loathe my current Smartphone, but I just know that if I buy an iPhone they’ll bring out the next version the day afterwards.

This thread title gave some people an orgasm.
