Sometimes, both at work and at home, when I’m using the Web, Netscape 4.7 at work, IE 5.5 at home, I see the letters SR or SNR in the lower left hand corner of the browser window.
In Netscape, it’s near the security symbol and in IE it’s near the Explorer logo.
This only happens on pages that I have visited frequently and have cookies set for them.
SNR could stand for “signal to noise ratio,” and given the location in the browser window (near the connection icon in Netscape), that may make sense. I’ve never seen in myself.
I just saw this for the first time…Morningstar.com was loading, and hung up…lo and behold, “SNR” right next to the on-line indicator of Netscape 4.7. Now only “Welcome!” comes up. “Server Not Responding” perhaps?
