Stained Porcelain

This is a pretty mundane question, but so some must questions be in the ablation of ignorance. What are some succesful methods for getting stains out of porcelain, such as food stains from a kitchen sink?

Try a mixture of cream of tartar and hydrogen peroxide. Make a paste and let it sit for a while over the stain. Works wonders.

Try a product called “Zap!”. It has managed to get out everything I’ve stained the sink with, without hurting the porcelain.

I use bleach. Works perfectly well & quick. Rinse the sink as soon as it has cleaned…

Thanks very much folks. I’ll try one or all of the above.

What you want to do basically is not scrub as it’ll make marks on the porcelain. Thus, bleach, which requires no scrubbing works very well.

I have recently begun to use a product named CLR (Calcium, Lime, Rust) with great success. Check it out.

Handy is quite correct in his advice. Do not scrub porcelain with any sort of abrasive, once you break the fired surface of the ceramic, it’s all downhill to stainsville.

The bleach suggestion is good as well. Just remember to avoid using it in conjunction with other cleaning agents.
