"Stalker" songs

Harlan T. Bobo, “Left Your Door Unlocked”:

*You left your door unlocked
I couldn’t keep from coming in.
Guess I could have stayed outside
But it was raining, and I knew you were out with him.

Just to lie in our bed
Just to see if things have changed
I make believe that you and me are here at home.*

The newest, best stalker song ever:

Weird Al, Do I Creep You Out? (to the tune of "Do I Make You Proud from Taylor Hicks)

Melissa Etheridge kind of creeps me out. Nowhere to go and I want to come over make me feel safer for being a man.

Sgt Schwartz

I always thought “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by the Proclaimers was pretty creepy.

I was suprised it took that long for this to appear.

Marc Cohn True Companion
bolding mine

Baby i’ve been searching like everybody else
Can’t say nothing different about myself
Sometimes i’m an angel
And sometimes i’m cruel
And when it comes to love
I’m just another fool
Yes, i’ll climb a mountain
I’m gonna swim the sea
There ain’t no act of god girl
Could keep you safe from me

My arms are reaching out
Out across this canyon
I’m asking you to be my true companion
True companion
True companion

So don’t you dare and try to walk away
I’ve got my heart set on our wedding day
I’ve got this vision of a girl in white
Made my decision that it’s you allright
And when i take your hand
I’ll watch my heart set sail
I’ll take my trembling fingers

Iron Maiden’s Prowler:

Sonata Arctica’s The End of This Chapter:

and

What’ll You Do About Me, Randy Travis

Someone else covered it and change “2’ x 2 '” to “dinner for two” but that just made it a less violent stalking song.

Till You Love Me, Reba McIntyre, although everyone disagrees with me.

Another Gem:

Night Prowler

Somewhere a clock strikes midnight
And there’s a full moon in the sky
You hear a dog bark in the distance
You hear someone’s baby cry

A rat runs down the alleyway
And a chill runs down your spine
Someone walks across your grave
And you wish the sun would shine

No one’s gonna warn you
And no one’s gonna yell Attack!
And you don’t feel the steel
Till it’s hanging out your back

CHORUS:I’m your Night Prowler, I sleep in the day
I’m your Night Prowler, get out of my way
Look out for the Night Prowler, watch you tonight
I’m the Night Prowler, when you turn out the light …

Too scared to turn your light out’Cos there’s something on your mind
Was that a noise outside your window?
What’s that shadow on the blind?
As you lie there nakedLike a body in a tomb
Suspended animation As I slip into your room

I’m your Night Prowler, break down your door
I’m your Night Prowler, crawling 'cross your floor
I’m your Night Prowler, make a mess of you, yes I will
Night Prowler, and I am telling this to you
There ain’t nothing you can do

Well, some of the ones you listed, for instance.

“Roxanne” is about a guy who doesn’t want a hooker to be a hooker. There’s no stalking in that song. “Message in a Bottle” is about a guy who’s on a desert island; whether you take it as metaphorical or not, he’s not stalking anyone, the whole point is he’s sad because nobody’s around. “So Lonely” is clearly about a guy being suicidal over breaking up; he’s threatening to do harm to HIMSELF, not his girlfriend. “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” concerns a guy who doesn’t even have the guts to tell the object of his affection he loves her; you can’t be stalking someone if you don’t even have the balls to call them.

A stalker song should involve someone who wants to STALK someone. “Every Breath You Take,” that’s a stalker song.

Weird Al Yankovic’s “Melanie” carries the stalkerdom of the protagonist to comical extremes.

I have to wholeheartedly agree with Invisible by Clay Aiken. WTF, dude? If you were invisible, you could watch me in my room? Awesome. No, really. I’m not creeped out at ALL.

Sorry by Nerf Herder: http://www.musicsonglyrics.com/N/nerfherderlyrics/nerfherdersorrylyrics.htm

From the viewpoint of the stalked, quite possibly:

The other verses continue in the same vein.

Wow, I can’t believe I am the first to mention the ULTIMATE stalker song!

I know something about opening windows and doors
I know how to move quietly to creep across creaky wooden floors
I know where to find precious things in all your cupboards and drawers
Slipping the clippers
Slipping the clippers through the telephone wires
The sense of isolation inspires
Inspires me
I like to feel the suspense when I’m certain you know I am there
I like you lying awake, your baited breath charging the air
I like the touch and the smell of all the pretty dresses you wear
Intruders happy in the dark
Intruder come
Intruder come and leave his mark, leave his mark
Intruder - Peter Gabriel

Ahem. Stephen and the Colberts.

Kat, I’m surprised anyone would disagree with you on “Til you love me”. I’ve always thought that was a stalker song.

I’ve loved “True Companion” since the first moment I heard it, but those lines jumped out at me right away too, gwendee. The rest of the song seems so sweet, but those lines take a sharp turn into nutzoid-land!

I just want to add taht I was recently seeing a woman who was being stalked by a disappointed suitor. So I have some context to place the song in. For example:

“I called you so many times today” —Not Stalking
“I called you so many times each day for the past week (or six), let the machine pick up, sighed deeply, and then hung up” —Stalking

“Your brother’s gonna kill me and he’s six feet ten” —Not Stalking
“Your boyfriend’s gonna kill me 'cause I saw his car in your space and called the tow company pretending to be you. Twice” —Stalking

“I see you sent my letters back, and my LP records and they’re all scratched” —Not Stalking
“I see you’re not fond of the missionary position through your half-open blinds from my vantage point down here under the lamppost. Yes, that’s my cigarette lighting up. All those messages that showed up on your machine while you were doing it are from my cellphone.” —Stalking

A handful of posts left. I was going to scroll down and put this in.
But noooooooooooooo. You had to piddle on my forhead. Damn you.

“Run for your Life,” by the Beatles: “I’d rather see you dead, little girl, than to be with another man.” That one seems appropriate.

Ozzy Osbourne’s “No More Tears” fits too. I’ve always taken the meaning of that song to be that the “protagonist” narrating how he killed the girl he was stalking.
