Stalking the UPS Delivery Man

It’s finally the day for me to stalk the UPS man. If I were at home I’d be like the eager kid with his nose pressed to the window, leaving skin grease stains behind (TMI? Nah). I’m so eager. I’m hoping my roommates pull through and are there to receive the delivery. It’s coming today! It’s been in Atlanta since Saturday but it’s here today! The UPS tracking shows that it has been checked out for delivery and so I’m eagerly reloading the tracking page to see if it shows as “delivered.”

I ordered a new digital camera, a 3 MP upgrade and a bigger memory chip to help me store all these wonderful photos! I’m eager like a fat kid waiting for Krispy Kreme to turn on the donut machine. I’m eager like a dog in need of a good pee. I’m eager like a… like a… like a cat with plans for world domination and the acme laser arrives today.

I’m just THAT eager!

So you’re telling me with 71 views no one has anything to share about their own stalking of the UPS Man? I find that hard to believe and shocking of the SDMB community.

Well, fine, I’ll add something. When I lived in Atlanta, the UPS driver (or maybe fedex, I don’t know) would sometimes throw the package onto the balcony of our apartment (second floor). Shortly after I spoke to one of the drivers after he missed us (he had left a note on the notice sticker, with his cell number), and he told me he had planned on throwing that delivery on the balcony as well (the item was made of glass), I started having all of my shipments sent to my place of business, where they were handled with more care.

Oh, the best part of this: One fine late winter/early spring day last year, I went outside on the balcony (which I hadn’t done in a month or two due to it not being very nice out). Sitting there on the balcony was a package from bellSouth–a cable modem. It was addressed to someone who lived in the same complex (Centennial Place), and had the same apartment number, but different street (I was on Luckie, they lived on Hunnicut). I tracked down a phone number, and gave them a call. They said that they had already taken care of the problem w/ BellSouth, over a month ago. So, I now sit here with a cable modem I have no need of (I think, I can’t remember if we moved it or not).

Long story short: I hope your roommates are there to accept, and barring that, I hope you don’t have a balcony.

So, you’re a big fan of The Bobs then, ronin?

Ummmm, Can’t say that I am… I at first thought you meant the Twins from MIB who ran the computer console thing, and then that’d be a resounding yes as I loved the MIB movie. But a google search reveals a music group called “The Bobs.” And I’ve never heard of them. Or is it option C - none of the above?

It’s the musical group. They’re an a cappella quartet who have done songs about an affair between a UPS man and a Photomat clerk (Drive By Love) and cats taking over the world (Fluffy’s Master Plan for World Domination). Having both of those in the OP seemed like more than a coincidence.

Enjoy the camera. Me, I’ll go digital when they pry the 40-year-old Honeywell-Pentax from my cold, dead hands.

Oh yes that does seem like quite the coincidence, but perhaps it was serendipitous because they sound like a music group that I’d really enjoy so I’ll check them out! Thanks!

And yes, you enjoy it. I’m no pro photographer, I just like to snap things and memories.

So did you get the package?
