Star Trek 4 is coming (another one, not the Whales one)

Beyond is not out yet (but despite the kind of lame trailers, it is getting decent reviews so I am starting to get a little excited) but already they announced another movie in the new Universe is coming. Surprisingly Chris Hemsworth will be back as Kirk’s dad. If you recall, he was the first officer of the Kelvin, the ship destroyed in the beginning of the first one. This incident is what created the new Timeline in the first place.

Given this, here’s what they should do (and I can’t take credit for this. I saw this idea online and think it’s a good one). The should bring this whole thing full circle and have the story be the Enterprise goes back and saves the Kelvin and in the end, in a very City on the Edge of Forever type moment, the crew sacrifices the universe they knew to put back the one that we knew. I think that would be great. Not because I hate the new movies (I liked the first one a lot) but because that would be such an awesome story. I think it would be brave and great.

I could not care less about the new Trek movies.

It seemed like a very unofficial kind of announcement, I wouldn’t be 100% sure it will follow through just yet.

Anton Yelchin won’t be replaced as Chekov. Good decision.

It’s official. It’s been announced by Paramount.

Huh, I didn’t expect that. It took quite a while to confirm there’d be a third. They must be wanting to dive into shooting it quickly.

No need to threadshit. If you don’t like the topic, move on to something else.

Hmmm… A save-Vulcan rather than save-the-Whales modification? I could see that. But you know it’s more likely it leads to Dad Kirk sacrificing once again so JTK can grow up to be awesome.

But maybe he can ask the younger folk if in their age Starfleet Yards cranks out starships like Hyundais. Utopian economy notwhitstanding those mothers must not be cheap and they keep losing them…

On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night, Zoe Saldana said that four more movies are planned.

Hasn’t Star Fleet gotten tired of the cost of patching the Enterprise back up once Kirk is done with it? Based on the trailers, it looks like even less of the Enterprise is left after this movie than the two previous.

Yes it is a good decision. However, I now fear new crewmember Ensign Wesley Crusher.

I thought she said that about the planned AVATAR sequels.

I don’t think you have to worry about that right away. He wouldn’t be born for about another 80 years or so.

There’s always Lt. Arex.
