I want to start watching DS9 from the beginning if possible. If not in order, at least a season at a time. Is there a wait for DS9 on Netflix or Blockbuster Online? I am not a member of either, but I was a member of Blockbuster’s.
I just started looking at the Blockbuster’s program. I see they still have the option to return a “by mail” DVD to the store. If you do this, do they still mail out your next DVD that day? Or do they wait till you return the in store DVD?
I just added the first season of DS9 to my Netflix queue and bumped them to the top - there wasn’t any messaging about a long wait (unlike the next item in my queue, which is listed as “very long wait”) so I assume I’d get the first disc as soon as I sent in one of my current ones.
Also, I understand that Netflix is going to add DS9 to their streaming service next month. They’ve already got all the other Star Trek shows on streaming.
woo hoo. Finally. I just started rewatching TNG from the beginning because they finally made it streaming. I was peeved that DS9 wasn’t available streaming. I missed the last few seasons – I got bored with the politics – but would like to watch it through to the end now.
If you get a DVD through Online, and exchange it for a movie in the store, your next disc is not sent out until you bring back the store movie you swapped for.
But if you just drop off the Online Mailer at a store, we check it in, and they send the next disc in your queue as soon as they can.
Oddly enough, DS9 is currently available for Amazon Instant streaming. So that’s how I’ve been watching it. I don’t really like the Amazon system though, as it’s very hard to navigate.
also working my way through the TNG series, then will probably move on to DS9. I’m a little sad, cuz they just announced that the TNG’s are getting remastered for Blu-Ray and will come out sometime soon… Unfortunately, I don’t have the patience to stop watching and wait. I’m already in the middle of the second season… who knows how long it’ll take to get those Blu-Rays out…
It’s important to remember that the last two seasons of TNG overlap with the first two of DS9. There’s a crossover episode (TNG Birthright Part I) where the Enterprise crew shows up on the station. (The second part of that episode is horrible, BTW.)
The Klingon arcs in TNG and the Maquis stuff to a lesser extent have direct repercussions in DS9. TNG also introduces the Bajoran resistance.
