Not to mention respect for rules and hierarchy similar to a bunch of fraternity kids piling into a car for a road trip. Spock wanders onto the bridge, asks if he can be First Officer, Kirk says cool, all done. No paperwork, no nothing. (Not to mention that no one thought to inform Star Fleet of what they were doing when they were running around after Nero.) Maybe all the Star Fleet bureaucrats were at a meeting on Vulcan when it bit the dust.
