Damn you Tommy Tutone!
Star Trek II Wrath of Khan
Star Trek III Search for Spock
Star Trek First Contact
Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country
Star Trek The Motionless Picture
Star Trek V Kirk meets God and beats him only because Shatner Dierected this one.
Star Trek IV The crappy whale story which rips off much of the threat of the Motionless picture. You know Unstopable Probe coming to earth, the only solution lies in earths past. Enterprise crew the only ones to understand “The Question” etc etc.
Star Trek: The really dumb way to use a nexus when you could easily have gone back further in time to stop Malcom McDowell before he was a real threat.
Star Trek: Salerie Bores us to death more than Picard who still couldn’t grow hair despite this youth enducing planet nonsense.
-
ST 2 & ST 8 (tie) – Wrath of Khan, First Contact.
-
ST 6 – Undiscovered Country
-
ST 4 Voyage Home
-
ST 7 Generations
-
ST 3 Search for Spock
-
ST 9 Insurrection
These 4 are tough – I like them fine, and could see myself ranking them differently on a different day.
-
ST 1 The Motion Picture (too much padding. Would have been better as a normal episode).
-
ST 5 Final Frontier (although I definitely have to lean towards “There is no 5”, Tars!)
- Wrath of Khan
- Undiscovered Country
- First Contact
- The Voyage Home
- The Motion Picture
- Search for Spock
- Generations
- Final Frontier
- (being kicked in the nuts by Chuck Norris)
- Insurrection
#1 Wrath of Khan
#2 Undiscovered Country
#3 Voyage Home
#4 Search for Spock
#5 Motion Picture
#6 Final Frontier
That’s it. As I have said before, there were only those 6 movies ever made. Try to tell me otherwise, and I will put my hands over my ears and go LA LA LA LA LA.
Also, DeForrest Kelley didn’t die…

And I have high hopes for Nemesis.
Well, of course! It’s an even number.

Someone (Achernar?) ought to add up these scores and give us the average, or Common Wisdom.
And let’s hope the Even Number Rule continues…
Fifteen Iguana
1st. - Wrath of Khan
2nd. -Search for Spock
3rd. - Voyage Home
4th - Insurrection
5th - First Contact
6th - Final Frontier
7th - Generations
8th - Motion Picture
9th - Undiscovered Country
I despised Undescovered Country and the Motion Picture, and didn’t hate Insurrection as much as every one else. I’ve always thought Final Frontier was over-rated.
I’m on it.
Okay, I gave a movie 8 points for first place, 7 for second, and so on down to 0 for ninth place. Using only the 14 people who followed the rules (no ties or leaving movies out) then we have the following results:
102 points - Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan
79 points - Star Trek 8: First Contact
77 points - Star Trek 6: Undiscovered Country
72 points - Star Trek 4: Voyage Home
58 points - Star Trek 3: Search for Spock
39 points - Star Trek 7: Generations
30 points - Star Trek 9: Insurrection
29 points - Star Trek 1: Motion Picture
14 points - Star Trek 5: Final Frontier
No surprises for the most part, although I did not expect 8 to beat 6. 6 was selected as first place by five people, and 8 was selected as first place by none. They each had one malcontent - Eonwe ranked 8 eighth, and New & Improved Scott ranked 6 ninth. Fifteen Iguana is the only person to select a movie other than 2 or 6 as first place. Achernar (that’s me!) put 2 lower than anyone else (fourth) and also put 4 lower than anyone else (eighth). kingpengvin put 5 higher than anyone else (sixth).
If we include the five people who did not follow the rules, well, I did the best I could, and here are the modified results:
141 points - Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan
104½ points - Star Trek 6: Undiscovered Country
100½ points - Star Trek 8: First Contact
96½ points - Star Trek 4: Voyage Home
76½ points - Star Trek 3: Search for Spock
53½ points - Star Trek 7: Generations
42½ points - Star Trek 1: Motion Picture
39 points - Star Trek 9: Insurrection
21 points - Star Trek 5: Final Frontier
I think you can probably thank Weird_AL_Einstein’s NextGen denial for swapping the order of 6 & 8, and 9 & 1.
Mrr? Final Frontier? over-rated? How can it be over-rated if no-one likes it? Are you sure you’re thinking the right movie? (Energy barrier at the center of the galaxy? god needs a starship? Spock’s evil half-brother? Uhura’s fan dance? Row-row-row-your boat?)
Hey I liked “what does God need with a starship?” And McCoy telling Kirk that he was pissed off at him. And McCoys revelation about his past. Sure there was dreck in the movie in many places but it wasn’t a total waste.
BRING ON THE DVD iwth new Shatner footage, Shatner Induced Special effects and Shatner Commentary and Shatner special bonus features and Shatner book offers and Shatner Desktop picture and Shatner Screen Saver and special Shatner filmography, and extra special “they should never have cut out these Shatner moments” deleted scenes
At least better than the Crapfest Generations (Not enough Shatner), and Coma inducing Insurrection (No Shatner at all WTF)
- The Wrath of Khan
A first rate film in every respect.
- The Voyage Home
A little hokey and not enough space adventure, but as a movie it’s very good.
- First Contact
Overlong and badly paced at times, but generally a pretty good, exciting movie. Good supporting work.
- Search for Spock
A good movie in the vein of “Wrath of Khan” but a little light, and the story takes some weird and unnecessary liberties with logic.
- Generations
Not terribly good, but has its moments.
- The Undiscovered Country
Stupid and contrived. I honestly don’t understand why this movie is ranked so highly.
- The Motion Picture
Despite its bad reputation and bad story, it does have some decent parts.
- Insurrection
Just awful. Features the worst ground combat set peice in the history of cinema.
- The Final Frontier
Hand me that rope. Do you know how to tie a noose?
