I’m amused that the big nemesis in ST: DS9 was a race whose name sounds very similar to some pop-culture figure I know virtually nothing about (since I ignore that sort of thing).
Recently I’ve been hearing about a drug called Ketamine, which seems to have had some success controlling ‘fear of harm’ in humans, according to a story on NPR the other day.
‘Ketamine’ sounds very similar to a race name or place name on Star Trek, possibly the original series. Could have been on ST:TNG, but it ‘feels’ like Kirk saying it. Is there a place, race, or thing in Star Trek that sounds similar to the drug Ketamine?

Star Trek had Cardassians long before anyone had heard of the Kardashians. I’d much rather spend time with the former than the latter.

I still think of Cardassians when I hear of the Kardashians. Wish I never heard of them at all.
