I watched the season premiere on Wednesday, now Im confused. I know the franchise tendency to jump around time wise, but this makes no sense. The Borg Queen dies near the end of the episode while under attack by Voyager and a Borg Sphere orders the self-destruct of her Cube. Now that’s not the real problem, the real problem is that the same Borg Queen also died in the Star Trek movie (next generation cast) where the Borg goes back in time to make sure the Federation never comes about. So which is it? Or was I mistaking in thinking it was the same Queen.
Although the characters are, I agree, very similar, I think they are two different Borg queens. I guess disembodiment is one of the qualifications for the job.
Also, without getting too deep into the ramifications of having an independent being in control of the collective, how is she replaced? It seems that independent thought is the cardinal sin among the Borg, but it also seems that that is what the Queen provides. Does someone else spontaneously become independent when she dies? Or is it like the lords of the Sith – one in command and one in training?
I guess this all comes from expecting too much consistency from television writers. I’ll just suspend my disbelieve and go quietly back to my regeneration chamber.

I have it on good authority from my co-worker who actually saw this episode that the Borg Queen in question did not die as she is back at “Borg Central” and simply ordered the destruction of the Cube which was seen destroyed.
Well, I watched it too. I’m sure she ordered the destruction of her own cube. The rebel sphere was just flying around and didn’t contribute to the demise of the “Queen Cube”
But, as you said, that’s not the problem. The movies don’t effect the series. It doesn’t make it any easier that they hired the same queen (Suzanna Thompson) in the movies, for the series either.
One thing is for sure…The Queen is dead…until the next movie comes out anyways.
If I can take you on a little sidebar here…Jeri Ryan is a babe. I tried to interview her last year and she wouldn’t have anything to do with me. She probably sensed I was drooling or something. Maybe it was my proposed question sheet I faxed her agency.
1)Are you naked often?
2)How often are you naked?
3)When you’re naked, what do you think about?
4)Has there ever been any accidental touching with the other female cast members on or off the set?..and were you naked at the time?
5)Can I see you naked?
6)Are there any episodes in the works where an evil alien gets you naked?
7)I’ve been a very naughty announcer. Will you spank me while your naked?
8)If you and I were naked on a deserted island, would I have a chance with you?
9)Do you have any Borg implants near your genitals? And can I see them?
10)Can I pluuuuuuleeeeeeze see your nakedness?
Nah…the list can’t be the reason…it’s all politics.
Between Star Trek: First Contact and Voyager episode “Dark Frontier”, there are two different queens. The one from the movie definately was toast after Data and Picard were through with her.
But it’s the same queen (and actress [Susanna Thompson]) between “Dark Frontier” and “Unimatrix Zero”. My WAG is that she had some sort of automatic transporter set up to rescue her at a moment’s notice.
I was kinda bummed that Seven couldn’t rescue the drone that was her father, Magnus Hansen.
I was severly freaked out at the end of last season when the away team got assimilated. Glad that that was the plan.
But one thing seems odd to me: every time the Doctor has the task of restoring a being from dronehood, one of the first things he does is stimulate their hair follicles so their coifs (sp?) are back the next scene. Seems to me that the Doctor wouldn’t give a rat’s ass about hair restoration. :D:D
They do look alike but the Borg Queen in the movie was played by Alice Krige.
Was it ever said that she WAS the same queen? Maybe they were just created from the same template or something.
“You humans, you always think so three dimensionally.”
Is what the Borg queen (BQ) said to Picard in “First Contact.” If you recall, Picard was taken by the Borg in one of the episodes of ST:TNG. The BQ was on the cube that assimilated Picard, as she wanted him to be her counterpart. She died on that cube, after Picard was rescued.
Then she died in “First Contact”.
Then she died in Voyager.
I can’t really speculate on how she keeps living - but she’s damn good at it.
I thought she said humans think linearly. Also, Queen Borgio was back at borg central when she killed the cube. If you recall, when she was having conversations with the assimilated Janeway, she was actually looking at a hologram.
I still can’t believe I actually watched it, I swore off Voyager years ago, I must have been desperate for a sci-fi fix.
I missed the Episode where Picard was assimilated and I missed the Voyager Episode. But I did of course see the movie with the Borg (First Contact).
Bafaa was correct Alice played the queen in the Movie and is indeed different that the actress who played the queen in the show.
Now, remember if you will that in the movie while she does die, all that is the borg queen is her head and spine. She gets placed in a body.
After the plasma gas (or whatever) that Data releases eats all her flesh off, all that is left is a Terminator type cyborg head and spine. Picard breaks this metalic spine and the red lights in her eyes go out. This being the case it does not seem that she is human like the drones (I know all drones are not human) but more of a cyborg like the Terminator with living skin covering a machine body.
If this is true, then likely all her “programming” would be stored in multiple places and all they would have to do is replicate a new borg queen and download the “programming” to this new queen.
Hence until all the borg ships are wiped out, she cannot truly be killed.

Pluto We’re in the same industry, I deal with Boeing on a daily bases, and yes you guys are very Borg like, just yesterday I was talking to 3 of 7, I mean one of your purchasing agents…
JimmyNipples I concur, btw, I saw a scene in Dilbert in which he has a Jeri Ryan clock, it’s hysterical.
StrTrkr777 I hadn’t hought about that, makes sense.
andyman Yo may be right, I was reading a book while watching and was wondering about that hologram thing, but thought it was part/related of that Unimatrix thing, you know like maybe she was speaking to a subconcious version or something…dammit now I have to watch again.
You people are ignoring the obvious. A species that could perfect cyborgs could easily CLONE people, put the clone into a maturation chamber, and have the Queen back in two weeks. Sheesh!
Nope, the Borg Queen did not try and blow her selfup. She was in fact talking to Janeway thru the hologram many light years away I would imagine.
In next weeks episode, Seven on Nine teaches the guys of Voyager the real function of those Borg implants
Well speaking from a Irish respective I’d like to thank you.
The cliffhanger was only shown last week over here.
PLEASE PUT SPOILER IN THE TITLES OF THREADS. We’re all not American.
The answer to any question such as this is, of course:
Don’t be such a dork.
Okay, not an answer. But good advice, nonetheless.
respective
It should have been perspective.
Sorry please continue.
I once saw this hot borg queen. She is sooooooooo gorgeous. Man I just wanna uh-uhhhhh yea you know what I’m talking about…
This is just another example of the blatant unreality of TV science fiction. If there WERE a Borg Queen, you just know she’d look like Janet Reno. Or maybe Roseanne.
Great, thanks for the visual.
Sorry yojimbo I wasn’t aware the Voyager was shown outside the states.
And Darth Vader calls her at 2:00 AM and she refuses to take his calls.
