Star Trek: Why didn't Voyager head for the wormhole?

I liked (most of) the characters on Voyager, but that was when the overall plot and backstory of the Trek universe really started to suffer under the evil influence of Berman and Braga. Basic science, and even self-consistent Trek pseudoscience, got tossed out the airlock, the Borg got defanged, and there were so many deus ex machina resolutions I lost count.

That’s why they make different flavors of ice cream, but it seem like it was the “7 of 9 Show”, or, “Guess Who’s Sleeping With the Producer Show”.
Scorpion was excellent, BTW.

Well, y’see, they tried, but Neelix ruined everything by eating the radioactive coconuts, then a Japanese guy showed up who thought World War 2 was still being fought, then these Russian cosmonauts got in the way, and when the headhunters showed up, everything went completely haywire…

I expected them to go with that in the episode where they found Amelia Earhart and other abductees. There were the rumors that she was captured by the Japanese.

To do this, I must reveal my shameful past as (gasp) a Star Trek fanfic writer, but…

we will track you down, and we will find you…

Janeway and the crew entered the Delta quadrant shortly after first contact with the Dominion, but before the Dominion War. So she presumably knew that the Dominion were not a peaceful race. She certainly would have heard reports of the Jem’Hadar. She probably did take the Dominion into consideration and erred on the side of caution, although she had no way of knowing how much worse things with the Founders would get. Also, she had no way of knowing the Dominion would be defeated by the time she got back to Earth. Of course if she had decided to head for the Gamma quadrant end of the wormhole, there’s no telling if the Dominion would rise again years in the future.

Lord knows with Janeway. She probably would have cut a deal to help them recover or something to get back home. She’d already spent several years fundamentally unbalancing the Delta Quadrant…

Just dropping in to remind everyone that my user name has nothing to do with this rotten show, which I gave up in after the first season.

Carry on.

Break out the compression phaser hamsters.

Pfft, maybe I should send you my six-story Ro/Barclay/Saavik arc.

Well, I do have longer stuff…not a lot. The urge was brief. But there is more.
