The trailer is hitting theaters this week…
He has 2 hands and 30 years time playing with lightsabers- odds that it’s his other hand that got cut off seem pretty good and would make a lot more sense then the hand he lost at the end of Empire.
I assume we’ll get a bootleg of the trailer by the weekend. No idea why they don’t just show us the trailer within a day of it hitting theaters.
Ok - I hate to post this - as I assume I am being punked, but I don’t pick up on any obvious clues that I am being punked.
Please tell me what scene makes this fake.
I liked every single SW film.Sure, the first two were nigh lifechanging, and the rest “just” entertaining but I still enjoyed them.
Without Lucas’s genius there never would have been any Star Wars.
Sure. Like “A New Hope” was cutting edge gritty.
A sassy princess, obvious bad guys, destined heroes, magic, wise cracking side kicks, sudden redemption…yeah, SW is already a Disney flick.
I’m not sure it’s a good idea to have the Joker play Luke.
I think the Harrison Ford saying “You guys got room for an old war horse?” is from Expendables 3.
No, not really. What happened to the object in question (no, not the saber) in the Thrawn trilogy (some of the few Star Wars books that were actually GOOD) was weird. What you’ve suggested is just kind of odd. And I’d imagine they wouldn’t want to tread anywhere near that close to the expanded universe.
Or so I thought, until they started trying to pass off a Z-95 as a next generation X-wing. I’m a relatively mild Star Wars geek, but c’mon, has NO ONE involved in this production ever played TIE Fighter?
It may seem obviously crap now, but this trailer pumped us up in 1998/99 when it first hit.
Amazing how bad that trailer was. Almost as bad as the film.
Can’t wait to see the trailer for VII!
Well, I wouldn’t swear out an affidavit on it or anything, but a few things stick out to me:
The longest shot we have of any character is the clip from RotJ at the beginning. Everyone else just gets a split second shot, usually in bad lighting. The lighting in general is very, very dark - could be the guy putting it up on YouTube screwed it up somehow, but it could also be a way to disguise sub-par CGI. The CGI itself is pretty much all spaceships and explosions, which are relatively easy for an amateur to do. Monsters are much more difficult, and despite being a staple of the genre, we don’t see any at all in the film. We also don’t really see any fight scenes between people, which is also a lot harder to stage if your an amateur, particularly the acrobatic lightsaber fights the series is famous for. Also, despite quite a bit of hype about Hamill, Fisher, and Ford returning for the new movie, we only see one of them in the trailer - coincidentally, the only one whom we’ve seen in costume prior to the release of this “trailer.”
Also, I couldn’t swear to it, but I’m pretty sure I recognized at least two of those shots from other movies - the boot-level shot of a door opening, and some robed guy approaching a statue holding a bowl filled with some sort of radiant energy both looked familiar to me.
Although, I think, the final pin in this trailer is the line by Harrison Ford as he attacks a Star Destroyer in the Millenium Falcon, which does not come, as Mahaloth thought, from The Expendables 3, but rather, from Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, shortly before he turns into a werewolf.
My first experience of the Phantom Menance trailer was a bootleg video camera recording that included the excited reaction of the theatergoers. It was exciting in the moment…
The opening is very effective, especially if we remove all knowledge of how bad the actual movie is. The pod race is an amazing special effect sequence, though as an actual section of movie, it does not hold up well because it goes on too long. Seeing the quick cuts of it in the trailer, though, make it look awesome and fun.
It still looks weird that a kid is in it. Why couldn’t Anakin have been 18 or older?
Disney caved and the trailer for the new one will be up on Itunes in HD Friday.
Good.
Hope it’s a nice post-Thanksgiving present.
Quit pretending it has an official release date and let it be released “virally.” Just release the damn thing.
Never mind: Posted trailer, it was fake as well. My bad!
