It was early Sunday morning, and I didn’t know what was on. I channel surfed and when I got to TBS, Star Wars was on. I hadn’t seen it since the Special Edition came out and thought I’d watch it again. (What was I gonna do, go to church? ;))
They got to the scene where Han shoots Greedo and then went to commercial. When they came back, the Falcon came out of hyper-drive and met the Death Star…
Wait a minute! Wait a goddamned fucking MINUTE! Where was the scene with Jabba the Hut? Where was the escape from Mos eisley Spaceport? Where was the scene where Luke trained with the levitating drone? Where was the “Let the Wookie win” scene?
At least USA shows the whole movie (original version). They put the commercial breaks in the mose godawful places, tho. One time they cut to commercial in the middle of the freakin compactor scene. Right, like it needs more suspense.
Chef, none of the Star Wars movies are available on DVD. I think Lucas said he’d wait until Episode III comes out, which should be some time in 2005. I don’t really care since I don’t have a DVD player right now, but it has pissed a lot of people off…

And there’s, what?, like 5 different versions of it on LaserDisc so far, too!
There’s the original CBS/FOX edition. There’s the original CBS/FOX widescreen edition. There’s the collector’s all-CAV edition with running commentary on the analog audio channels and supplemental stage-prop footage. There’s the THX-remastered AC-3-Dolby-Digital-encoded last-chance-before-we-release-the-special-edition edition. And, of course, there’s the Special Edition[TM].
It’s not like they’re unpopular movies, after all.
