Star Wars Rebels Season 4

Trailer here.

So, prepping for a downbeat ending?

Well, we know the ship and at least two of the crew make it, so it can’t be THAT dark.

I don’t think Kanaan lives through it. I think they’ll find some less fatal way to take Ezra off the board to make room for Luke.

I doubt there is any way to have a happy ending and make the characters fit in with the rest of the movies (OK the Ghost, Chopper and a few other Rebels references in *Rogue One - *means at least Hera, the ship, Chopper and maybe Rex, make it that far - there is a lot of speculation that Rex is the old Rebel commando on Endor in Jedi).

A live Jedi and apprentice known to the Alliance command structure and the Empire running around free during the Ep 4-6 timeframe just doesn’t’ work with the rest of the story unless they can come up with a way to fake their deaths and send them far enough away from the Emperor/Vader that they can’t be detected.

My bet:

[ul]
[li]Kanan and Zeb die,[/li][li]Ezra returns to Malachor to search for Ahsoka (possible spin-off for post-*Jedi *era adventures)[/li][li]Sabine is badly wounded by Rukh, (Thrawns Noghri assassin), and is returned to Mandalore for some kind of treatment only available there - genetic/family related.[/li][li]Hera, Chopper and Rex move further into the Alliance military structure, specialising in covert operations.[/li][li]Kallus - dead[/li][/ul]

Giant doggies?

That, and it’s on Disney XD

But yes, what both he and Battle Pope have said seem likely. I hope we see the Battle of Scarif from the Ghost crew’s POV and the series ends on some clever nod to Rogue One or A New Hope, er, “Star Wars”.

Disney? You mean the bastards who shot Bambi’s mom?

There is absolutely zero reason there cannot be other Jedi around during the ep 4-6 period.

Those movies are the Skywalker family story. ONLY Luke or Leia could have turned Darth Vader. He was their only hope. No other Jedi could do that.

We already know there are plenty of other dark force users around and that they (instead of the Jedi) are collecting sensitive kids. That there is still the occasional rare Jedi around is entirely plausible.

Besides, Filoni has confirmed that the bearded guy on Endor is Captain Rex. We know he lives. We know Hera and the Ghost are at the battle in Rogue One, immediately before the beginning of Ep 4, which could always be the season finale.

This idea that Disney somehow plays it safe and cutesy is extremely outdated. There are a lot of deaths in family-friendly Disney movies, and Rebels has a large amount of violence in it. Deaths happen, but with modern Disney they have weight rather than schmaltz.

Well, not in the 6 period. Unless Yoda was a big fat liar like Obi Juan when he told Luke that when he was gone, “the last of the Jedi he would be.”

I agree on that point. Disney has done a nice job in giving SW:R the depth and characterization it deserves. Still, I’d prefer a Rogue One level of “sci-fi action & violence” (a la PG-13), as opposed to the TV-Y7 version on Disney XD. I’ll take what I can get though. I watch the show we have, not the show I wish we had.

(I’m a big fan of Rebels)

Did anyone else think that Kallus now looks a bit too much like Obi Wan?

And whose was the voice of the second narrator?

That’s Mon Mothma, voiced by Genevieve O’Reilly from Rogue One.

Bump. Since we’re less than a month out. I’m looking for viewing options. I don’t want to have to wait for the BD release and I don’t want to spend a fortune.

Define “a fortune”. If SlingTV is available in your area and you have decent broadband service, that’s $20/month (you can start and stop at any time - no contract) and they carry Disney XD. Unfortunately, you may have to watch live as you won’t be able to use their native DVR to record the show, as they don’t have a deal with Disney to allow recording of the Disney-owned channels. Or you may be able to come up with a home brew DVR. - Not cost effective if you’re interested in only one show, though.

The DXD website has the currently airing season available, with new episodes added on the live premiere dates (they take them down when the physical disc season sets are released) but you need a cable provider login and password. Ask around…

I assume you’re asking about legal viewing options. Everything ends up on youtube or dailymotion within minutes of the first airing’s completion.

Perhaps £30 total - that’s double the cost of the BD.

That’s far too expensive when all that interests me is one show.

Let’s not go there.

Bump.

What do Dopers think of the first two episodes? For me, they close Sabine’s arc and she’s now expendable, story-wise. There’s the first hint of trouble in the Hera / Kanaan relationship, so that’s indicating that Kanaan will do something silly to win her back and die.

The ending made sense, as will Sabine being one of their war leaders.

But like Bo-Katan said, now the Empire will throw everything they’ve got at the Mandalorians.

Anyone else finding it interesting that they’re killing off the minor Imperial occasionals? They appeared to kill two in the last double episode.
