Star Wars Trivia: New Game from JC

Oh ok if it isn’t the shuttle from ROTJ then it has to be the shuttle that Darth Vader arrived on in ANH for #44.

  1. Vader

Is there some sort of record we could set for simulposts?

Balance, mongrel_8 is just beating you to that ‘submit button’.

Sorry Balance, I appear to be a step ahead of you today.

OK, for the evening crew…

And hoping Balance and mongrel can stop simulposting…

#49 What Rebel snowspeeder pilot had the callsign Rogue Two?

#50 Who reactivated the hyperdrive on the Falcon during its escape from Cloud City?

#51 What was Han Solo’s first line in The Empire Strikes Back?

#52 What, according to Han, was the destination of the stolen Imperial Shuttle?

#53 What creature is the typical meal for a wampa?

#54 Who went full-throttle during his Death Star trench run to keep TIE fighters at bay?

and a bonus set for the weekend…

#55 Who requested that for the trip to Alderaan, there would be ‘no questions asked’?

#56 What vehicle on its way to Tatooine did the Imperials decide not to destroy, because no lifeforms were aboard?

#57 How many stormtroopers escorted Princess Leia to Darth Vader aboard her consular ship?

#58 What vector did Darth Vader’s TIE fighter take when approaching the Y-wing fighters?

#59 How many shots did a blind Han fire at the Sarlacc before it let go of Lando’s leg?

#60 What artist produced most of the early concept paintings for Star Wars?

  1. Hobbie

  2. Artoo-Detoo

  3. “Loud and clear, kid!”

  4. “The forest floor.” (With parts and technical crew… at least, that’s what he told the Death Star blokes)

  5. Tauntaun (which tastes like boot rubber to people… at least, it tastes like boot rubber to Wedge.)

  6. Luke… and, since they were following him, Wedge and Biggs (“We’re going in, and we’re going in full throttle… that oughtta keep those fighters off our backs.” “At that speed, will you be able to pull up in time?” “Just like Beggar’s Canyon back home.” ::cue dramatic, heroic music, cue shot of X-wings swooping into the trench:: )

  7. Obi-wan. “What is it, some kind of local trouble?”

  8. An escape pod (c’mon, JC, you’ve gotta try harder than this!)

  9. Two.

  10. Well, he ENGAGED them from straight behind… but if I recall correctly, Luke mentioned that they were “coming in .35”, whatever that means. But I’m probably wrong about this one (and I refuse to pop the movie in to check).

  11. One. “It’s all right, Icanseealotbetter!” (Ugh… they should have stuck with “trust me!”)

  12. Ralph McQuarrie, or however the heck you spell his name (and, again, I refuse to check! That’d violate the game!)

(Note: I know you said “one response per reply”, but hell, if all I have to do is make ten different replies to the thread to answer them all… nuts to that, my post count’s high enough!)

Spoofe is a big meany.

I’m sorry, Zebra… I guess I should be ASKING the trivia questions instead of answering them…

All right, then… as long as Johnathan doesn’t mind. Every correct answer is worth five SPOOFE points*, and are in no way related to JC’s final score tally (in other words, these are bonus questions). And note: My questions will come from the movies AND the novels/sourcebooks… so, for the average Star Wars fan, they’ll be a lot more difficult.

A1: What respective companies built the X-wing, Y-wing, and TIE fighter? (Must name all three companies to get credit)

A2: What two exceptional technologies did Grand Admiral Thrawn employ in his mission to overthrow the New Republic? (Must identify both technologies)

A3: How many inhabited planets are there in the Corellian system, and what are their names? (Must identify all the planets to get credit)

A4: What aspect of the Force was Corran Horn poorly skilled at, and what aspect of the Force was he exceptionally adept at? (Must name both skills to get credit)

A5: How did Chewbacca die? (Be specific… what caused it, what were the names of the entities involved, what was going on when he died, etc.)

Enjoy (and JC… didn’t wanna encroach on your thread, but hey… I didn’t wanna dominate the question answering!).

[sub]*Note: SPOOFE points are worthless.[/sub]

OK, Spoofe, I’ll play your game too. I think I can get a couple of these.

A1) The X-Wing was the Incom Corporation, or at least the techs that stole the plans and defected to the Rebellion. The Y-Wing was Koensayr. And the TIE Fighter was built by Sienar Fleet Systems.

A2) Thrawn used cloning and cloaking devices. I assume those were the two you were looking for?

A3) 7. Corellia, Drall, Duro, Selonia, Sacorria, Talus and Tralus. 8 if you count Centerpoint Station. And that was from memory, so :stuck_out_tongue: .

The other two I don’t know, off hand. In fact I had no idea that Chewbacca died. I guess I need to get some back issues of the comic books.

A1: Correct.

A2: Yup.

A3: Ooh, so very close… but Duro and Sacorria are in their own respective systems. They’re both in the Corellian SECTOR, however, which ain’t the same thing.

Spoofe I think you have it wrong with #52… I think it is actually:

52.)the forest moon

but I could be wrong

Oh and it appears we have an EU master here

A4) telekenesis, but was exceptionally good at alter perception

A5) Chewbacca died while on a mission with Han and Annakin Solo, they were making a run for the planet Serpindal (I hope that is the right spelling (I am rereading the NJO series right now)) where a large Dovin Basal was pulling the moon down to the planet. Chewie and Annakin were rescuing people when they got knocked down, Chewie tossed Annakin into the falcon, got blown away from the ship. Then turned to the moon roared, and was incinerated by the heat of the atmosphere combusting/compressing.

That good enough (of course I probably got the planet name wrong.)
Oh and happy 100th post to me…

SPOOFE, please dont tell me youre getting some of those questions from those dreadful Timothy Zahn books! Sorry, I just think those books are pathetic and not worthy of having the Star Wars name.
Now if the questions are from the actual original Star Wars books, thats cool. Heres my favorite, just for shits and giggles:

According to the real books, who was Uncle Owen really? I mean, how was he related to Luke?

Im sure that will be no problem for most people, but I love that one for trivia.

Ahem ‘Uncle’ Own was Luke’s Father’s Jedi Master’s Brother (least that is what the Star Wars screensaver I used to have sai) (wish I could find that darn thing again)

A4: Close enough. I also would have accepted “the ability to channel energy” as the latter answer.

A5: Right-O.

Are you insane? The Thrawn Trilogy is regarded as the best of the official novels, and is as close to “canon” as you can get outside of George Lucas himself. Hell, back when Lucas was considering doing episodes 7, 8, and 9, he was going to do the Thrawn Trilogy.

Those three books - Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command - were the first books that Lucas allowed to be officially part of the Star Wars universe. So cease your heresy!

Owen Lars wasn’t related to Luke, aside from Obi-Wan (it’s rumored that Owen is Obi-Wan’s brother, or cousin, or some sort of relative, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet) choosing to have Owen and Beru raise Luke.

And more Bonus Questions in light of JC’s absence:

A6: Who took control of the Empire immediately following Palpatine’s death?

A7: Why were the Hapan ships known as “Battle Dragons” feared so much? What aspect of their design made them so powerful?

A8: What was the name of the Imperial officer who masterminded the capture of the Imperial ships that were under the control of the Yevetha?

A9: How incredibly annoying is Jar Jar Binks?

A10: What planetary shipyards did Grand Admiral Thrawn (take THAT, Deacons Trucked!) attack with mole miners to capture several New Republic capital ships?

Fine…I still think they’re crap. Mainly because of Zahn using direct quotes from the movies (or original books) in his books. i.e. “We don’t have time to discuss this as a commitee.” “I am NOT a commitee!!” To me that seemed like Zahn saying “Hey look! Im such a geek that I know the original stories so well, Im using parts of them in my book! Isn’t that cool!” That was just really tasteless and un-original…it totally turned me off.

And Owen is rumored to be Ben’s brother?? Well, in MY ROTJ novel, Ben specifically says that Owen is his brother. Promise.

SPOOFE, welcome to the fun. I thought something like this would happen.

You and I have had this ‘canon vs non-canon’ argument before. I like sticking to the movies because that’s the only part that is written in stone. Lucas has always reserved the right to throw out everything that hasn’t yet appeared in a movie. So say my LucasArts contacts, anyway. (FTR, how the LucasArts weenies big timed me was impressive. Back at E3 in 1999 one of them said, “Yeah, I’m just here for a few hours 'cause I have to go screen Episode I with George tonight.” Bastard!)

Anyway, SPOOFE that wasn’t a sweep, buddy!

That still leaves questions #49, #57, and #58 left open. I’ll repeat them here:

#49 What Rebel snowspeeder pilot had the callsign Rogue Two?

#57 How many stormtroopers escorted Princess Leia to Darth Vader aboard her consular ship?

#58 What vector did Darth Vader’s TIE fighter take when approaching the Y-wing fighters?

And some extras:

#61 What type of farmer was Uncle Owen?

#62 What object did Uncle Owen forbid Obi-Wan Kenobi from giving to Luke?

#63 Who died at that same time as Luke’s father, according to Uncle Owen?

#64 What did Uncle Owen tell Luke to take to the garage for cleanup?

#65 Who did Uncle Owen assume was programmed for ettiquette and protocol?

#66 What actor played Uncle Owen?

#67 Who exchanged blaster fire with stromtroopers as the Falcon tried to escape Mos Eisley?

#68 Which eye does an X-wing pilot use to sight through the targeting computer?

#69 What caused the first Imperial walker to fall during the Battle of Hoth?

#70 What hanger bay was the Millenium Falcon drawn into on the Death Star?

#71 Who was unaware of the source of his magical power when he observed, “I never knew I had it in me”?

#72 How many TIE fighters escorted Darth Vader’s shuttle to the second Death Star?
