Those movies were terrible so I’m on board, hopefully they make better ones.
True or not, it doesn’t matter. You can erase them from the canon, but you can’t erase them from reality. Those movies happened, and they were a hot mess as a trilogy.

Hot mess? You know what’s a mess? 1,2 and 3. All copies of those should be destroyed and MiB flashy thingies should be used to remove any memory from everyone in the world. And then they should be made correctly, in a way that sets the stage for 4, 5. and 6, and work as part of a unified whole.
7, 8 and 9 weren’t that bad, except in the minds of Abrams fanboys. Do they have problems? of course. Even 4 and 5 have problems. But not as many as 1-3.
While we’re at it, can we have the Abrams Star Trek retconned away? Everything in the new parallel universe continuity just be buried in a dump? Thank you!
Honest thoughts here:
VII - as good as the original trilogy. I love it so much.
VIII - well, they both made a very compelling movie and destroyed every cool thing from VII.
IX - No, just no. A mess. The Emperor was not the solution to the problems VIII created.
At least they had a somewhat coherent overarching plot. And I think III is one of the better movies in the series. Probably would have been a better idea to start with II - 10 year old Anakin was a waste. More Clone Wars.
Well, this is most likely total bunk, but if they can pull it off I’d be supportive. I do still like The Force Awakens though. I’d prefer it if they retconned out after that, but some times you gotta crack some eggs.

Also agree about Star Trek. Star Trek should not be an action movie series. Not that it shouldn’t have action, but it shouldn’t be the whole, or even half of the movie.
As long as they put Stars Wars Christmas in the public domain and up on YouTube I don’t care what they do with the entire rest of Lucas’ luchreful empire.
In another bit of news, Disney+ has restored the Biggs and Wormie scene to ANH.

This would be great news for Star Wars fan. The Force Awakens was such a disaster it would be impossible to make a good film that continues that story.
Look… I never went to see “Titanic”. Why? Because I knew how it ended. The boat sank. That was the problem with SW 1,2, and 3. We all knew how it ended. Anakin became Darth Vader. So why waste your money?

Far more interesting than anything in VII, VIII, or IX. And, you know, trade disputes being a front to sow division leading to a peaceful coup is pretty interesting.

If they do, they need at least a coherent writing group. While VIII was the best of the new trilogy, Abrams not "yes, and"ing it really messed with the overarching story.
