Starcrafters! League ranking question.

Well, not so much a question as a request for an explanation of the whole thing!

I wasn’t really sure what was going on initially. Then I noticed that accounts had a balance of points. More points == higher ranking in your division. This seemed to make sense. As I won matches, I got points added and as I lost them they were deducted. But, just when I think I have it figured out, today it seems I can’t increase my ranking. When I win matches, I get no points? However, I have managed to lose a couple of positions :confused:. When I inspect the match history, past matches indicate the accumulation or loss of points, but today’s matches do not? Is the ranking system frozen for the time being?

I’m not really complaining. I’m having fun with playing people of my approximate skill level. But, at the same time, I kinda want to get to the Silver league, so I can lose to more sophisticated and nuanced players ;).

I’ve done some googling but not found any detailed explanations. Thanks in advance all!

I don’t know why you wouldn’t receive points for a win. The only time I’ve ever received no points for a win was a match where I won against a silver league player as platinum. I assumed the system determined the skill differential was too high to reward points for that win. However, if you’re currently in the bronze league, that can’t be the case. Maybe something is bugged with the ladder at the moment.
