From what I understand, they want to study the thrusters mounted on the service module, which is jettisoned before the capsule re enters the atmosphere and is destroyed. NASA takes a long time to do things.
When being interviewed they are all confidence and smiles. I wonder what they are really thinking. Remember all of the problems they had prior to liftoff? Makes you wonder.

I expect Butch and Sonny are happy about the situation: if you are an astronaut what you really want to do is to be in space!–so the longer the better [and there are backup plans for returning to earth on the Crew Dragon if the issues with the Starliner are not fixed so they don’t need to worry about dying out there].
