Starlings

Murmuration (warning: video with sound).

I’ve watched this several times in awe. Beyond the birds, I like the music and the cool name of the videographer: Liberty Smith.

Can anyone explain this phenomenon to me? Does it have something to do with air currents? Why do they do this?

That’s awesome.

Wow. I have NO idea what causes it but that is one of the most awesome things I have ever seen in my life. Thank you so much for sharing!

Wow… wonders of life. Thanks.

Where I live this happens frequently at this time of year. It always occurs in the evening, just before they nest for the night.

Why they do it isn’t fully understood, but this is a good article on what we know about it so far.

After reading descriptions of beyond-gigantic passenger pigeon flocks, I wonder if this is a taste of what they were like. So wonderful.

Wow. That brought tears to my eyes. The reaction of the girl at the end is almost the best part to me. It’s obvious she just experienced the most awesome thing ever. Wow. Thanks for sharing this.

Serious wow to that video!
