Stars on the right

Adam Baldwin, of “Chuck”, “Firefly”/Serenity, and tons of other stuff.

I remember seeing her on a talk show, where she mentioned that once out with dinner with friends, she said she supported for GWB.

She said there was dead silence, and that the people looked at her like she just took a dump on the table next to the breadbasket.

Britney Spears

We don’t want her…can you take her off our hands?

Bart Simpson is a Scientologist? Ay, carumba!

Norm Macdonald

Reba MacIntire supported several Republican candidates (including Bush) during the last few national elections.

Billy Davis & Marilyn McCoo performed for several Republican presidential inaugural balls, including George W. Bush’s. (Which seems strange since they are famous for being the leaders of the group “the 5th Dimension”, whose biggest hit was the hippie anthem “Age of Aquarius.”)

Shirley Jones sang at George H.W. Bush’s inauguration.

The late James Brown endorsed Richard Nixon for the 1972 presidential elections.

Elvis Presley also met Nixon, and was deputized as an honorary D.E.A. agent by him. (Presley was actually stoned on prescription drugs at the time!)

Reading the thread title, I was sure this would be another question about why flags on soldiers’ uniforms are “backwards.”

That pretty much nails it. With the aforementioned exception of Patricia Heaton, I think most of the people in Hollywood who still call themselves Republicans sharply depart from the party’s stances on social issues and its alliance with the Religious Right. Also, don’t forget the fact that the conservative braintrust that runs the GOP has been playing the anti-Hollywood card in order to secure votes from the Bible Belt. Even if you might agree with the Republicans’ positions on taxes, the economy, and foreign policy, it’s kind of hard to support a party that often uses you and your industry as evil bogeymen bent on corrupting the morals and warping the fragile little minds of America’s youth.

Medication helps.

Yes, I did. Clearly, her real self and her character have melded into one for me…

But, that’s like not having a Baldwin at all!

I think it was Larry King who pointed out that the Far Left and the Far Right often meet each other coming round the corner. He maintained that if Hunter Thompson and I think it was Jerry Falwell happened to find themselves sitting next to each other on a plane, they’d find in talking that they actually had a lot in common. Gun ownership, for instance.

Um, if you’re going to insist that I’m not allowed to debate this point in this thread, then it’s only fair that you refrain as well.

Not debating. Go to GD if you wish. That fact remains that, for instance, Penn Gilette considers himself a libertarian. He is as far left as the leftyist lefty on this board on any issue I have heard him speak about. He is a militant atheist, an unequaled Bush hater and loathes anything Rebulican. He is also against government interferance in his life. He is a libertarian and very left leaning. If you think he shouldn’t be a libertarian, then debate him. There are people in this world that consider themselves libertarian but don’t agree with conservative viewpoints. They feel that the government should stay out of things like abortion, gay marriage and other social issues to name a few. If you think they are wrong and they are not what they actually think they are then debate them somewhere else.

Milius is a Zen anarchist. In other words, he is a nut. But you gotta love him.

You’ve never tried to debate Adam “I’m not one of THOSE Baldwins, but Stephen is okay” Baldwin. Knee-jerk Bushite. I try to separate his politics from his roles (though they seem to be merging) but I avoid him now. Some people you can talk to, even if you disagree with them, but he’s positively robotic and surrounded by fankidz who’ll fellate him whatever he says.

This is debating. If I’m not allowed to express my opinion that Libertarianism is essentially a right-wing ideology, then you’re not allowed to express your opposing political opinion on the matter either. Fair’s fair. I’m not talking about which of us is “right”; I’m only pointing out what’s fair, as far as this thread goes.

What you’re doing is shutting me up, then continuing the debate on your own, one sided, without any opportunity for response. Not cool.

Gloria Estefan is a Republican and did fundraising for GHWB, I remember, but I don’t know what, if anything, she’s done politically lately.

Mort Sahl became more conservative late in life, and did some fundraising shows for Al Haig’s 1988 presidential campaign.

That B-list actor Ronald Reagan gave a famous speech for Goldwater in '64.

Frank Sinatra was a Kennedy Democrat in the early 1960s, but twenty years later was very tight with the Reagans.

Hulk Hogan recently endorsed John McCain and has had some public appearances with him.

Sly Stallone is a center-right Republican, from what I’ve read.

That reminds me as far as McCain endorsers- Wilford Brimley!
