Start of summer MMP

Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) informed me that a spider needed removal. A tiny little guy. I scooped him up in a tissue and took him outside. When I tried to shake him loose, he bailed and descended from a thread. I wrapped it around a leaf, and wished him good luck.

What’s with all these damn rocks so many of us have?

Flytrap, I think you’d need a lot more than a half ton of rocks to build a fort.
It’s kind of like you look at the flower bed and think 5 bags of mulch will work. Fifteen bags of mulch later you realize you severly underestimated how much is needed.
They will be used instead of mulch in the flower bed out front.
From what I have seen with the side yard, rocks are a lot better at keeping the weeds out.
Swampy, I’d love to have the rock, but that is a loooooong drive to get it.

I thought it was awfully quiet around here. My son went back to bed after I woke him up at 5PM.

metal mouse, not Ohio, but close enough to drive there for 3.2 beer at 18. (northern Indiana, about an hour from Ohio).

Mooooooom, you could go with a belt clip for your phone. Robot or human?

Yay for hearing from hubby butters! I hope that the results give you some mental peace.

I had the meeting from hell this morning, all 2.5 hours of it. The thievery from last month? It’s not completely over. It’s likely that there are at least two more people from inside our facility, a couple of consignees and possibly a driver for a freight company. This is one of the reasons that we are updating our system two years early. I asked the global security guy (he used to work in my department) about limiting all transactions of units over $1K to company badged employees in the system. It was discussed for a bit and given a possible green light. I figure that someone with skin in the game has more to lose (better pay and bennies) should they be tempted to thievery.

I’m off tomorrow so that I can take a friend to the eye doctor. When I get back Thursday, there will be another (hellish) meeting. I will be so glad when this is over.

I got a bit of sad news today. Two friends (a couple) are going their separate ways. :frowning: They’re trying to split as friends, but, still, I’m sad.

Stay healthy y’all!

I went out for a bag of dog food while Gordie was napping. It must have disturbed him when I was gone, he needed extra cuddles. And dinner.

Biopsy with no anesthesia? That sucks(I speak from experience)

You, too. And as my one nurse friend says “Wash your damn hands!” or they can blow it up their Whazoo. ;)

Stoning blasphemers:smiley:

Moooommmmm!, I like raw onions. Next time I’m up there, Roxstar and I can share a slice.

There is an episode of the TV Western Rawhide where Gil Favor is taking bites out of an onion, chewing them, and spitting them out. :dubious:

“Eternity is a ham and two people.” - Dorothy Parker

Red - I don’t wear belts, and back when I did, I hated having stuff attached to it. And really, it’s just an issue at home. I have to avoid putting it somewhere and forgetting it.

And now, sleepy time!

And hubby is home. I was flabbergasted when he called shortly after the first time and said he may be coming home. We are three plus hours from the hospital. He has great friends and got one to bring him home so a 6 plus hour drive for him. Now, had they told us they maybe were gonna send him home today I or the friend could have been there :smack: He is doing good. They went into his heart through his neck. No anesthesia at all. He said they did cover his face so he could not watch the monitor.

He has to eat a very low sodium diet and restrict his amount of fluids. I started researching and found there is salt in damn near everything including bread and fresh tomatoes, celery. I made him a salad with an oil and vinegar dressing. He ate only half but now we know **Buddyboy ** loves cucumber. He was so happy his daddy is home.

We won’t know the biopsy results until three weeks unless Doc finds out sooner. My neighbor is a retired RN and said they probably wanted him out of the horsepistol to minimize possible Covid exposure. I think they needed the room or could be both. Thank you all for virtually holding my hand.

I am exhausted. Rosie’s sig to all. Stay well.

And one of my hockey friends lost her fight with cancer. R.I.P. Margo. :frowning:

I’m sorry for your loss, Doggio :frowning:

Nothing exciting going on here, the DC row rumbles on in govt with many more people starting to complain that they shouldn’t have to abide by lockdown restrictions if a certain govt adviser doesn’t feel they apply to him (for some rather dubious reasons). Anyway, that totally consumes the news so I haven’t bothered watching it. As an antidote, I have booked myself onto a live storytelling event this evening instead. Much more entertaining!

Irk again today, I have two skype meetings back-to-back so I’ll be having a fun morning. Then I can spend the afternoon writing up notes from them (and yesterday’s meeting that I haven’t written up yet). We are supposed to document all our meetings in case we have to refer to them later so that will be a rather tedious afternoon. But storytelling! Yay!

(((((mumpers))))), cos it feels like we all needs some huggings…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 degrees Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 83 and maybe rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon. Or not. Willy-nilly are TWPTB! No huge items on the agenda today outside of a trip to Sam’s (me) and a trip to the Pubic Sto’ (OYKW) for provisions and misc. other stuff. Those shall be accomplished this mornin’. Since I am an old fart I can go to Sam’s when it opens for merchants rather than waitin’ until ten o’ clock, so yay for that. I hope they keep that up. I foresee bein’ there at eight to do my thang and get the heck outta there! Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy, cause we eat up leftovers.

{{{doggio}}} sorry about your friend.

Butters yay for Hubs bein’ home! Maybe he will take it easy this time.

{{{red}}} sorry about your friends split up. Always sad when that happens.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, alack, woe of woe, and bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. It’s just so hard to be me!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

I’m up. It’s foggy again. I’ve got to do a little work outside today because there’s a chance of rain overnight and the next couple of days. I have a few plants that need to be in the ground and I’d like to run the mower. We shall see.

Meanwhile, Roxy is having a “cupcake” for breakfast - the leftover corn muffin from supper.

As usual, we shall see what the day will bring.

Happy Wednesday!

Morning all.

Must… not… get dragged into politics in the MMP…

Have read, but not retained much (((thems what wants one))).
My main news today I guess is that I’m giving up the allotment; it’s nowhere near as nice a site as my old one, and it’s a very cliquey site, with lots of rules and everyone’s nose in everyone else’s business. I’ve not been going down there during all this, following RHS advice (not government on-the-spot-in-an-interview advice, which was basically ‘Uhhh… Oh, I’m sure it’ll be fine’), as it’s really a small plot and it’s not as easy to distance yourself properly there as you’d maybe think. Apparently, me not going there enough is a problem.

Plus, well, odds are pretty slim I’ll still be living here by the end of summer, whatever happens with work… There’s none round here, especially at the moment, that’s for sure. I’ll make one last trip down there today, try to tidy up a bit and get any plants I’m going to try and keep.

Oh well. Got washing out on the line, will be going shopping later, final assignment is being completed. Nothing much else to report.

Our local branch of a NW bakery reopens today! We’ve been driving to a different one that was set up for CV business, but now they’ve set up the same type of no contact service at this one. It’s also farmers’ market day, so we’ll be picking up another flat of strawberries and some other things.

Last night, my wife noticed that the neighbor’s car was gone. Very unusual, as nothing is open. After a few hours, I told her to call the wife to see if they were okay. Nope, the husband (75) is in the hospital with a brain bleed. He had a bicycle accident a few weeks ago and got pretty banged up, hitting his (helmeted) head in the process. Went to the ER, had an MRI, and the diagnosis was bruises and scrapes, but nothing serious. Well, his wife says he’d been complaining of a headache over the last few days, and he’d lost interest in food.

Then, last evening, he couldn’t remember what channel the news was on, and seemed a bit confused. She, being a former nurse, bundled him in the car and headed for the ER, where they diagnosed a brain bleed. She was unable to stay with him, of course, and spent at least part of the night sitting in the parking lot while they operated. I see the car is back this morning, but haven’t been able to talk to her yet. Hope he’s okay.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. it’s starting to drizzle here.

Nut, it does seem like allot of work, for little return.

Cookie, hope the enighbor is OK.

Ask Home Depot what their minimum purchase is to qualify for free delivery. If you just need another pallet of rocks, it would be worth it!

Unless your car/truck has got extra hamsters running along the whell inside your engine, hauling bags of rocks in your own vehicle can take many, many trips. Especially if you have a hill or two to climb.

Don’t ask how I know these things!

Butters, I stand beside you, united in the all-consuming task of finding salt-free food. It’s been DAMNED CHALLENGING. At Amazon, I have found various salt-free seasonings (there are a LOT more than just Mrs Dash!). I have bought salt-free seasoned bread crumbs, salt-free baking powder, and wonder of wonders, the genuine San Marzano from Italy canned tomatoes and tomato products have NO SALT. I plan on making great vats of salt-free spaghetti sauce and canning it myself

Unless it says so, all canned products have salt. Washing off the product only removes a tiny bit. According to the dietician, frozen vegetables have no salt, so we get some relief there.

ALL PROCESSED FOODS contain salt. That means nothing from the deli, no boxed mixes, no shake-n-bake, no macaroni and cheese. Fresh fruits and veggies are the way to go, and that means hours at the kitchen sink cleaning, peeling, cutting and preparing.

Be careful buying some chicken, especially frozen. They can be injected with salt solution.

The occasional steak can save everyone’s sanity, BUT you have to buy the most expensive “Prime.” That’s because meat tenderizer is a salt bomb.

Mr VOW has decided he like Perrier water. He knows how many bottles of Perrier are his limit.

Link arms with me, Butters, and we shall form the “Sisterhood of No Salt” here on SDMB!

Butters, glad to hear husband-unit is home. As for the restrictions on diet, Vow can help more, but I’m sure their are books out there on how to cope with a salt-free diet–he’s not the first one.

doggio, cookie, sad news about your neighbors.

Nut, had to read a bit, didn’t know what an ‘allotment’ was in British-speak (here in the US it’s usually a large lot, somewhere you might build a house). Sounds like several folks there decided what was best and make everybody kowtow to their wishes…undesirable. Best you are getting out.

[del]Enjoy[/del] Survive your meetings today, boofae.

Rained this morning and tunder-boomers are due this afternoon, so probably another day inside. Paid the last bill of the month and will get some cash out tomorrow to go shopping for the June supplies.

Everyone take care this Humpday.

Just spent close to an hour anna half working out front. I planted 6 vinca, pulled up or cut down a bunch of saplings that were invading the forsythia, cut down a bunch of invasive wisteria, and raked 3 loads of leaves from the ditch. It started to rain as I was wrapping up, but I don’t think it was a serious attempt at precip. Anyway, it looks a bit better out there, and I’m having a bowl of cherries!

I’m thinking everyone will be responsible for their own suppers. We shall see if I relent.

Damn.
