Starving Artist - we remember you

Oh, forgot this part:

I took Hentor’s use of the phrase “got the bends” to be metaphorical, in the sense of something being damaged by progressing too quickly. I didn’t necessarily think it was a direct quote of your own words. Or perhaps your referring to a distinction among the legal acknowledgement of civil rights, actions by minorities to exercise those rights, and legislative action (like school busing) to put those rights into widespread practice. That’s a pretty fine distinction to draw. Any confusion over that is most likely a misunderstanding rather than a deliberate attempt to impugn your judgement.

Plus, Hentor doesn’t have your track record of blatant refusal to accept the obvious. If I noticed him doing it often, I’d be more inclined to call him out on it.

I think you can string them all along for at least another 10 pages. Just keep dropping the lure in the water and someone will bite. :stuck_out_tongue:

I always enjoy the “I have more important things to do” post (familiar from numerous debates with woo-ites), which gains in hilarity from the knowledge that the poster using this ploy habitually spends abundant amounts of time in such threads before exiting in a huff.

If that’s too soon, they’ll leave in a minute-and-a-huff.

Are you sure you want to encourage that?

He might blunder into young people fucking in the mud, or something equally demonstrative of the decline of America as he sees it, such as black people standing up for themselves.

He really has no clue how nasty and condescending his attitude to black people is, does he?

And you’d be wrong about that, as you are wrong about so many, many, many other things. Don’t do that again.

Also, don’t say “fuck you” to other posters.

No warnings issued.

You know what Starving Artist reminds me of? A character from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: a total deluded narcissist, one who occasionally has an ounce of common sense or even a bit of decency, but what little there is buried under sheer douche baggery. Any goodness (e.g. a hint of good SDMB citzenry) that might emerge is lost in a swamp of personality disorders, banal self-centeredness, inane ranting, rampant delusional fantasies, and a rude intolerance of anything that challenges a very narrow yet warped world view. Not one of the regulars, though. He lacks even that minimal appeal. SA is a one-off character from that show, only appearing to make the others look slightly better by comparison.

And you mean that’s on his best day, right?

Isn’t that EVERY character on Philadelphia?

Let’s not get carried away.

SA doesn’t have best days. (At least as far as the SDMB is concerned.)

Indeed.

Some days, he doesn’t post.

Fair point!

If he’s such a poor, put upon, conservative who’s tired of being persecuted, why doesn’t he just go to Free Republic already? Seriously, he’d fit right in.

So much for “water off of a duck’s back”, amiright?

He doesn’t, because he secretly yearns for all of us to like him.

I secretly yearn for a threesome with Rachel Maddow and Scarlett Johansenn. My chances are better than his.

The hell?

Miller is pretty hands-off about issuing warnings in the Pit.

The “no warning” for telling someone to fuck off is consistent with his usual practice which, i should add, is supported by most people, including me.

As for changing the stuff in quotes, that doesn’t usually receive a warning for a first offense either, unless it’s particularly egregious.

I agree with this.

Sorry for the “me too” post, but I wanted to support current practices with the hope that they continue in this manner.

So, now I’m needlessly elaborating to generate content. Which really isn’t content at this point. Let me summarize: Me too.

I also.

He probably does. Often on FR, posters tell tales of how they got into this debate with one or more liberals and totally won. I can see SA hopscotching over there to tell stories of his travails and triumphs and how he schooled everyone.
