State of Florida vs. George Zimmerman Trial Thread

So, proving that Zimmerman regularly called the police about a variety of incidents, about people of a variety of ethnicities, without attacking a single one of them, helps the prosecution how? If the prosecution want to show Zimmerman’s previous good character, that’s up to them I guess…

Is this supposed to prove some kind of racism on Zimmerman’s part? If so, perhaps the defense will mention that, on the NEN call about Martin, Zimmerman made no mention of race until he was asked for a description of Martin. Perhaps some of the other calls are similar.

And Honesty, we are still waiting for a cite for your claim that Zimmerman is on anti-psychotics.

Neighbor witness Manalo: claims that Zimmerman was on top based on the pictures she saw later (even though she does say the one on top wore darker clothes - which would be Martin).

Defense on cross exam finds out that she is basing that on two pictures: one “hoodie” pic showing Martin’s face only, and another pic of Martin in football uniform taken when he was 14. When asked about that, she says “Maybe I’m wrong.”. Ya think?

I think I highlighted the reasons in my previous posts why it’s bad. He used the same exact terminology in the Trayvon Martin call that he did with these calls. Listen to the tapes, it’s almost like a meditative, Buddhist mantra: “There’s a suspicious person here” “I don’t know what his deal is” “I’ve never seen him before” “We’ve had a lot of break-ins in our neighborhood recently,” “I think he’s up to no good” etc etc etc. The urgency of Zimmerman’s phone call against Trayvon will be diminished when it’s brought out to light that he began many of the phone calls with the same scripted phrases in other calls. When you boil his calls down to the nitty-gritty, you find that he was just calling anyone who he felt didn’t belong there, not that they were doing anything wrong or that he actually witnessed a crime. Given that this complex has hundreds of people living in it how can he make that judgement when only 25 people showed up to the Neighborhood Watch meeting?

There was a poster who asked about Zimmerman’s other calls. So far, we know that 7 calls out 30 were regarding black men, so already we’re damn near approaching 25%. That’s already out of proportion of the black population (11%) that live in Seminole County. So, let’s hope they play all the tapes for God’s sake so that we can really determine whether he profiled people not. I have a hunch that out of those 30 phone calls, no one was caught or arrested. This is precisely why Zimmerman was so frustrated when he called the police that day he murdered Trayvon Martin. Indeed, “Those fucking punks” and “they always get away” matches the narrative. He wanted to ensure this phone call didn’t end up like the last 29 phone calls, so that’s why he got out of his car, for him, this was personal.

I really, really hope the prosecution argue they way you do, Honesty. The judge will barely be able to stop laughing long enough to dismiss the case.

Actually, if you read the information previously released about Zimmerman’s prior calls to 911, you will note that Zimmerman reports things like potholes, open garage doors, lost children (that’s one of those where Zimmerman gives the race of the missing child - what a racist), and loud parties. It also appears that, as I thought, the reason Zimmerman mentions race is in the context of giving as complete a description as he can. Notice he also mentions, as would be expected, what the suspects were wearing.

Note also that there were 46 calls in something like seven and a half years.

I also note that the last call that Zimmerman made before the night he shot Martin was the call that one of Zimmerman’s neighbors describes as having caught a prospective burglar (cite), that the burglar in that case was a black male, and that, of the eight previous burglaries reported to the SPD, four were attributed to black males, and the other four, no race could be determined.

I’m not sure why the state wants to bring the previous 911/NEN calls into evidence, to be honest. Don’t really see how they’re evidence of anything. I suppose they’re trying to show that he only made ‘suspicious activity’ calls on black males, but that’s not even an issue - we know that he thought Martin specifically was ‘suspicious’, I don’t think George is disputing that at all.

Not really, and the attempts to make it into one are extremely depressing.

The Retreat at Twin Lakes is 20% black and Sanford, Florida is 30.5%.

Zimmerman has a concealed weapons permit. I doubt he was concerned about a background check.

Again, based upon my experience in another jurisdiction, it would not be unusual at all for no one to be arrested in relation to a mere 30 suspicious activity/suspicious person calls. Those calls rarely result in an arrest.

It’s nice to see everyone again. The same folks saying the same stuff, of course. I haven’t changed my opinion either. The prosecution will be extremely lucky if they are able to create reasonable doubt in the jury’s minds that Zimmerman defended himself. I don’t think they’ll be able to do it. If the judge did her job this case would be thrown out like an F-Bomb from Trayvon.

A lot of the things the prosecution and their supporters believe are boons, end up boots in the ass of their own case.

Dee Dee now coming to the stand. Good god I pity the poor court transcriber. She’s going to be a trainwreck of a witness.

Gotta agree with you there. Her transcript is going to sound like a cross between her tweets, and bad rap music.

Oh, this is going to be so great. The “star” witness of the prosecution. This is literally laughable.

“Creepy ass cracker” Oh man, that is so classic. I love it… I am loving this moment. OMG… Let the truth come out.

“Creepy ass cracker”. LOL. Let’s see - who’s the racist?

Let’s see how her testimony compares to her previous statements. And if she has figured out how old she is.
