Do you think they went too far? My personal feeling is that the display is not good (or interesting, creepy, or funny) enough to compensate for the ick factor of exploiting the headlines like this.
(Also: Mods, feel free to move to more appropriate forum if desired. I went here because of the question at the end.)
Isn’t that the amusement park that the Brady Bunch visited? If that’s the case, they should have Robert Reed (on all fours). But I guess it’s the opposite of Too Soon in this case.
I was there a few weeks ago and saw the display. I didn’t even notice this one in particular and probably wouldn’t have figured out who it was. These skeletons are all over the park and most aren’t supposed to be anyone in particular. One was a bride left at the altar. I remember the area where this must have been because I could recognize Michael Jackson by the red jacket and the single glove, and Elvis by the white suit and the side burns, but I didn’t know who the others where.
I was most upset because they have several gravestones on the grounds too. I tried to get my son to pose for his picture in front of one that said “HITCHCOCK”. I had him stand on the (to me) left side. He didn’t fall for it. Hint… he was covering up the first sylable of the name… yes, I’m really 12.
Kind of tacky in a not-good way, I think. It seems to me a good rule of thumb might be to not exploit dead people for the shock value if there are still living people around who might remember them. So Steve McNair (whom I’d never heard of until I read the article in the OP) would be off-limits, whereas, say, Rasputin would be okay. Although considering how much killin’ Rasputin took, they might need a bigger display area.
Don’t know why having random dead people is OK but having dead celebrities is not OK. Every time you see a dead person in a haunted house, a horror movie, whatever, that person is someone who had a family and who had people who cared about him, etc. But nobody thinks about that - it’s just a corpse, as if it was never alive to begin with. HOWEVER - have displays of dead celebrities, and ZOMG it’s in “bad taste.”
Were there any episodes where Mike Brady taught the boys the finer points of pitching and catching?
I can’t decide if the McNabb thing is tacky or not—probably, but in any case it’s not appropriate for kids. If I’m a parent taking kids there for entertainment, I’d be talking to management.
