No one is around to flip the flash sales apparently, but Trine 2 won the vote by a good margin. Too bad it’ll be on sale during the period where most people in the US will be asleep. If you’re up, get it.
This round voting is between Stronghold 3: Gold, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon 2, and Brink.
I know nothing about these games, nor do they really look like ones I’d be interested in…so I voted for Stronghold 3: Gold since: 1. That was the one most expensive normally and 2. That was the one that most of my friends had on their wishlist.
Pausable real time. You can pause the game, explore the informational reports, issue orders, the un-pause it, if you like.
Edit: Sorry.
So far, I’ve picked up Trine 2 and Legend of Grimrock. All the flash sales look pretty underwhelming. I’m desperately hoping I’m paying attention when Skyrim goes on sale.
Skyrim’s guaranteed to be a Daily in my opinion. Not that my opinion is much a guarantee.
Skyrim will be $20 as a daily. I’m pretty good at predicting these things.
Oh dear…the poll this time is between Rage, The Darkness II, and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.
I don’t know how I’m going to choose between any of them.
If this happens, it’s what I’ve been waiting on. If not, I can wait till the Christmas sale.
This time around the only game I’m interested in is ARMA II, and only because of DayZ. I’m just getting back into PC gaming, but I’m soon to get a new PC and I’ll be looking for more games come Christmas.

Barring a great Flash sale, it looks like my wallet is safe for two days in a row. The only one I don’t own and would be interested in is Anno 2070 and $25 is too much for me to spend on it. I know it’s up to the publisher and it may never come down further but I’m okay with not playing it in that case.
Tribes: Ascend is the best F2P game I’ve ever played - well, designed to be F2P anyway, TF2 is probably better. And you can indeed play it for free. But if you get the starter pack, you get a bunch of class and weapon unlocks, and some in-game gold to unlock other stuff - if you’re interested in the game, at $5 it’s a steal. Also permanently boosts your XP gain rate 50%.
People rave about Isaac. Never played it, but for $1.25 you might as well roll the dice.
Payday is a good game if you have some friends to play with.
Lara Croft is a very good coop game.
How’s the indie pack today? I don’t own any of those, so I may buy it.
Well, now Max Payne 3 is only thirty bucks…
Piece of advice I always give as far as sales… on single player games, what’s the rush? It’s going to be the same game in 6 months - probably even better, because there may be patches and mods out for it. Your enjoyment will still be the same then, only the cost will be 1/3rd what it is.
Multiplayer games are different - in those, if you start late, you’re behind the community on learning the game, communities can wither and die, etc. So there’s value in being in early on multiplayer games.
But single player games - I can’t think of any reason to buy them right away. They only get better and cheaper. And you can buy plenty of older, cheaper games to keep you occupied in the meantime.
I suspect I won’t pay more than about $15 for a single player game ever again.
How does Steam pick what games go on sale? Any change Magic: The Gathering 2013 is gonna be marked down before the event ends?
If anyone missed out on Trine 2, I have an extra giftable copy. You can hit me back with a $2-4 game later or something.
On the other hand, it’s not as if there’s no communities for single-player games. As a recent example, there’s a lot of chatter and socializing about Skyrim; half the fun is relating the crazy stuff you’ve done in game. The longer you wait, the fewer people there are to talk about the game with when you finally do pick it up.
Just to note here (and this has happened a couple times with the flash sales), it’s actually a Tomb Raider franchise sale, not just Guardian of Light.
It’s also about supporting your favorite games.
If everyone decided they’d wait for Skyrim to get cheaper, There would be no next elder scrolls game.
It still might be a Steam Daily yet, but Amazon is currently selling ArmA II: CO for $20 (33% off) versus Steam’s 25% off deal.
