Steam Summer Sale 2012 - Deals and News here

I ended up getting it, but so far I’m pretty upset. The game stutters so badly it gives me motion sickness (which has never happened to me before in my life) and I’m having awful problems with shadows. Right now, I’m thinking I’d rather trade some top end graphic potential and modding for a much more stable game. Hopefully I can find some fixes online.

I also ended up getting Arkham City yesterday. Nothing so far today has drawn my attention though.

Has anyone played around much with the Microsoft Flight reboot thing? I did the free-to-play part and it struck be as really dumbed down from FSX, but then the free airplane is that stupid flying car thing, so maybe the normal airplanes are better?

(Need answer fast-- 1:30 and counting!)

I liked it. The graphics are no longer cutting edge, but they hold up OK. The game itself is very enjoyable, and while RPGs like that rarely have tons of replayability, you get such a different experience playing through as Jedi or Sith that it’s definitely worth it.

Community Choice deal is Bastion for $3.75, which I’d recommend to anyone. Actually, I’d recommend the version that comes with the soundtrack too for $6.25. If you already have the game but not the soundtrack, you can add it on for $2.50.

New flash deals are Vessel - 2d platformer puzzle game that looks interesting for $3.75 and the Telltale remakes of Monkey Island 1 and 2 for $3.75.

Or update your graphics card/drivers maybe? I haven’t had problems like that.

I remember hearing there have been some stuttering problems in Skyrim with ATI cards. I never heard if there was a definitive solution, but some googling might be in order.

I have a pretty good graphics card (HD 6950 2GB) and the drivers were all recently updated. Not top of the line by any means, but within the top 5 tiers on the hierarchy chart. Thanks for the advice though, it’s always good to check.

This might be it. My preliminary check didn’t reveal any solutions, just a bunch of home remedy type fixes. I downloaded a mod to play in windowed mode on full screen and that helps a little. I’ll eventually get it straightened out enough to play, I’m sure, but it doesn’t help my motivation to play at all when I have to spend hours of work beforehand to get the game running right.

I’ve been playing the hell out of Bastion since I got it from the previous Humble Bundle. Yes, the soundtrack is pretty good. Only thing I don’t like about it is that you can’t replay levels AFAIK (there is New Game+, but you still can’t choose levels).

Monkey Island is good too. I already have the first one, and even though I haven’t really played it I’ll get the second right now. I mean, I played them back in the day, just not the SE. Easily one of my “Top 5” series.

If you’ve never played it before, it’s worth it. However, the copy I bought ages ago when the game was new refuses to run at all on my rig using my ATI vid card. You’ve been warned.

I bought the Bethesda pack for Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas, and now that Fallout NV is a flash sale, I ended up paying more than I could have. Oh well, hopefully I’ll get $5 of enjoyment out of Brink and whatever other garbage game was included.

Any of the Fallout NV DLCs worth it at $2.50 a pop?

I would say all of them. I bought every one a good while ago, and while I havent played the last one (Lonesome Road - I simply took a break from NV and didnt get around to it), the others offered diverse action and intereseint locations. I’ve prob. spent about 5-6 hrs in each expansion, and they all add something different, something new to the whole NV experience.

At $2.50 it’s a no brainer, in my book

I bought Mount and Blade Warband on Sunday (because I had heard before that that was the one to get.) I can already see this is going to be one of the games that I rack up tons of hours in.

Best 5 bucks I’ve ever spent on steam. I had a hard time at first, but it was so addicting. I signed up to help a Vaegir count in their war against the Sarranids, and immediately my army of 35 decently trained soldiers got jumped by a huge Sarranid army. Also later on, I captured one of the Sarranid sultans, and eventually got a huge payoff for returning him.

One of the friendly counts accused me of being dishonorable because I fled from the Huge Sarranid army, so it seems everything you do has consequences.

So anyone else that’s considering buying it, I heartily recommend it.

Does anyone have any opinions on which (if any) of the SR3 DLC is worth it? I’m not normally big into the GTA type stuff or even really open world games in general, but I grabbed this in the first flash sale for 75% off and I ended up with 13 hours played by the end of the weekend. It’s just such ridiculous, over the top fun. Since the DLC is 75% off until tonight I’m considering grabbing some… but I find that the odds of any given DLC being worth the money or time aren’t always that great.

If you don’t have Fallout, the deluxe edition, with all the DLC, is $9.99. I don’t know if they worth their ‘full’ prices tho.

Quantum Conundrum (both versions, with or without Season Pass) is 33% off today from GreenManGaming. If you downloaded the free Hacker games from last week, you should have a 20% voucher which will stack and bring it down to nearly 50% off.

There are three with missions: The Trouble With Clones, Gangstas in Space and Genki Bowl VII. The others are just weapons, vehicles, outfits and/or cheats. So I’d just get the Season Pass DLC pack, and the others only if they particularly catch your eye.

Well, how about that! They put 3GOTY on a Flash for $4.99!

Be warned, Lonesome Road is very difficult. You’re not allowed to bring in any Mojave companions but you are allowed to exit and re-enter at any time until you enter the Temple.

Sounds good. Thanks!
