Steam Summer Sale!

I’ve picked up a few games on sale. I’m most excited for 428 Shibuya, a game from Spike Chunsoft, who did Danganronpa and 999, it was 80% off and a friend had got me excited for it when It came off.

Not Steam directly, but Civ 6 expansions were both on sale on Humble, and you can choose keys for Steam or Epic (who recently had Civ 6 as a giveaway)

I didn’t know that, thanks for letting me know.

I just grabbed The Golf Club 2019 featuring the PGA Tour. On sale for $8 I think it was.

I’m not that much of a golf fan. I’ve played. I don’t really play anymore because I just never clicked with it. I never had any fun at it even after I got good enough to not triple bogey every hole. But I do enjoy a good video game of it … AND it has a very robust course designer, which is why I bought in the first place. I had rented an earlier version of this game from GameFly for the PS3 and I had a blast with it.

There’s, of course, online features. I’ll play a round with someone if they’ve got it too.

I bought these two last night, and started Disco Elysium. I died before leaving the first room: being hungover, I winced when I turned on the lights, and being stubborn, I left them on anyway, and being incredibly weak, the single point of damage I took from the blinding hangover headache was enough to kill me.

I kind of love this game.

Dropping in to say I’ve been playing the everloving crap out of The Golf Club 2019. I highly recommend it, if it’s still on sale. Hell, even if it’s not still on sale. The learning curves are steepish, but not daunting. The game play is pretty easy to learn but hard to master - it’s a real analog to actually golfing in that it’s a timing/rhythm thing that you can’t lose concentration on.

However, the course designer is awesome. I started out hating it, of course, because I couldn’t figure out how to make everything thing work, but with a little practice and a few tutorial videos it really comes naturally. I’m no Picasso, but I put together some really impressive looking holes/courses. I’ve spent more time designing the five holes I’ve got in so far that any other game I’ve played in a year (then I ruined it all by accidentally landscaping and saving without realizing, but these things happen).

There are tons of user made courses ranging from awful to ridiculous to amazing and breathtaking. If I can manage to finish a course without fucking it up, I’ll definitely publish - it seems a pretty active community.

Hey, Lefty:

I saw that! I gotta track that down.

Ubi is having their own sale on the Ubi Store starting today. You can use promo code UBIFORWARD for another 20% off. I’m sure exclusions apply on very new titles or preorders.

Games will activate through Uplay but you need to use Uplay for the Steam versions anyway so I typically just buy them direct.
