I only got to play it briefly before I left for vacation, but it seemed very like OMD, which is to say excellent.
T2 was great. I won’t say it was everything that Diablo 3 should have been, but pretty damn close.
Maybe get Civ 5 for my wife. Hold her over until Sim City comes out in February.
Sim City got pushed back until March 6th.
Any guesses what Skyrim might go for?
I hope hope hope Secret World gets a discount. It looks fun.
Any DLC recommendations?
Closer to her birthday, so that works out even better. Thanks for the heads up.
I’m mostly waiting for Civ 5: Gods & Kings to go on sale. Other than that, I just plan on impulse buying my way to happiness like a good 'Merican.
You can get a pretty good deal on Assassins Creed 3, Hitman 3, and/or Far Cry 3 if you watch Ebay - all those games are coming free with certain video cards and people sell the codes for a lot less than the games retail price.
Darksiders Franchise bundle is $13.20 on Amazon. Includes Darksiders, Darksiders II, DS2 Season Pass, DS2 Argul’s Tomb and a handful of DS2 assorted weapons/armor DLC.
Steam activated.
Definitely Skyrim, now that I have a computer that can play it in high-settings glory.
Lego games for the kids. And a lot of other stuff too, I’m sure.
Oh yeah, I’ve also got FTL and Gemini Wars on my list.
Has anyone here played Gemini Wars?
Haven’t played Gemini Wars, but was looking at this review of FTL and am seriously considering it. The graphics look a bit dated, but it seems like it would be a fun game to play.
FTL is great, incredibly addicting and massively replayable. I can beat it and start right back up.
I think I’m going to pick up Natural Selection 2 at 60% off.
Can’t post all the deals since I’m at work, but I’m sure someone will be along to post them.
Unless 3 other folks want to go in on a 4 pack, for NS2, then we save another $2.50…
Goodness, I wasn’t planning on buying anything, but here it is on day 1 and I’ve already got 5 games in my cart - all old or oldish games for a buck or two each.
If you’re thinking about getting one of the Tropicos: I find 4 is very easy. That also means it’s less frustrating compared to 3, which was a problem at times. I love both games - so why not get them both?
Modern Times for Tropico 4. It’s a whole new campaign - I think it’s even Standalone.
The equivalent for 3, Absolute Power, IIRC is basically some extreme scenarios. Like challenge packs, sorta. I enjoyed them. It’s a good amount of content for what should be a fairly low price.

Lots of publisher packs. Valve collection, $49.99. Bethesda, $89.99. 2K, $89.99. Sega, $69.99. Ubisoft, $89.99
Plus some more stuff. Currently Skyrim is listed at 33% off but I feel it will go lower before the sale ends.
I assume this is a general winter sale thread, so we can post other deals here. Probably only amazon will have some deals as good as steam.
Gamersgate’s end of the year salestarted.
Sony Online Entertainment is going to have a rare triple cash day, where you can buy 3x as many of their station points for cash that you normally would. Good for all their f2p and freemium games. Which I wouldn’t normally care about, except Planetside 2 may be the funnest game I’ve played in a decade, you should give it a try and buy some SC tomorrow (friday) if you like it, cause this is as good as it’ll get. I’m blowing my whole christmas game budget on it.
As per usual in these sales, don’t buy anything that isn’t a daily/flash sale until the next day. If you buy a game for 33% off now, and it’s 60% off tomorrow, well, no one to blame but yourself.
