Steamcleaning Ovens: Pros and Cons?

I am looking for advice from the SD on a newer type of self-cleaning oven that uses steam to “spot clean” (or, loosen) the dirt which you will have to wipe off yourself. For those who own an oven with this feature, how’s it working out for you?

Also, if i took an oven and heated a pan of water…would it work just as well?
