Steelers' / Jets playoff

How the fuck do the officials call for a measurement there? The previous play went nowhere, and they were clearly a good yard short of the first-down marker. All they did was hand the Steelers a free timeout to discuss their 4th-down strategy.

Edit:

Well, poetic justice, i guess. INT.

What was that bullshit on the part of the officials? The Steelers are trying to hurry up to get the 4th down play off while the Jets defense might not be ready, and the refs let them off the hook so they can measure the spot, when they were obviously a full yard short?

Gotta laugh at a ref’s decision that pisses off both teams.

You think the Steelers actually wanted that play stoppage? They were trying to hurry to the line…

The Jets defense looked pretty prepared to me. Maybe it wasn’t as big a deal as i first thought, but i don’t think they did the Jets any favors.

Except for Revis, the Jets defence doesn’t look prepared for anything. Revis is having to make entirly to many tackles for a DB.

As a Packer fan I think we match up better against the Jets, but man a Steeler/Packers SUper Bowl, most Super Bowls versus the most championships, would be very special.

WRT Troy’s Achilles issue:
I waited awhile to answer this, but I thought I’d mention that Troy is still skipping practices. Tendons heal very, very slowly.

ETA: the dangers of multi-tasking. . . (sigh)

It’s kinda cool to see the Steelers just man up and run the ball down the JETS throats. For all their braggadocio, the JETS really should be able to shut down the run.

As a Steelers fan I was told all week that I should be rooting for the Bears for pretty much the same reason, but I’d like to see a Steelers/Packers Super Bowl too, again for the same reason as you.

I believe the “3000 years” was an Iliad joke. The Greek hero Achilles and the Trojan war. I thought it was pretty clever

game over

I think that last play was a lateral even if it wasn’t a fumble. It looked like he was standing right on the 20, and the ball hit the ground just behind that.

Maybe the Jets should’ve been shit talking all week. No swagger.

It was, but as a Steeler fan, I’m not accustomed to joking about football, so whoosh.

I DID get it eventually, hence the edit.
/Not INTENSELY dense.
//Usually.

Yeah, SP, but the idiot announcers never once considered the lateral possibility.

Only good thing here (for me and fellow Jags fans) might be a Mark Brunell relief appearance (probably his last career game in any event).

Steelers seem uninterested in perpetuating the fantasy that the Jets are actually a good team.

The Jets should fly in Caleb Hanie.

And you are surprised by this why?

ETA: Though the fact that the official didn’t mention that makes me think they ruled that it was a fumble, not a pass…which I think was the correct call.

What a sissy roughing the punter call. I really, really hope that Hochuli isn’t the Super Bowl referee.
