How the fuck do the officials call for a measurement there? The previous play went nowhere, and they were clearly a good yard short of the first-down marker. All they did was hand the Steelers a free timeout to discuss their 4th-down strategy.
What was that bullshit on the part of the officials? The Steelers are trying to hurry up to get the 4th down play off while the Jets defense might not be ready, and the refs let them off the hook so they can measure the spot, when they were obviously a full yard short?
As a Packer fan I think we match up better against the Jets, but man a Steeler/Packers SUper Bowl, most Super Bowls versus the most championships, would be very special.
WRT Troy’s Achilles issue:
I waited awhile to answer this, but I thought I’d mention that Troy is still skipping practices. Tendons heal very, very slowly.
It’s kinda cool to see the Steelers just man up and run the ball down the JETS throats. For all their braggadocio, the JETS really should be able to shut down the run.
As a Steelers fan I was told all week that I should be rooting for the Bears for pretty much the same reason, but I’d like to see a Steelers/Packers Super Bowl too, again for the same reason as you.
I think that last play was a lateral even if it wasn’t a fumble. It looked like he was standing right on the 20, and the ball hit the ground just behind that.
ETA: Though the fact that the official didn’t mention that makes me think they ruled that it was a fumble, not a pass…which I think was the correct call.
