Let it be known that Eureka is the owner/driver of a 2000 Saturn SL2 with about sixty thousand mile on it. Let it also be known that Eureka’s automotive savvy is limited.
Anyway, I just had the front passenger side wheel rim replaced because of bad driving in a snowstorm. And all four wheels were aligned.
Since then–since the replacement, that is–I have determined that the air conditioning doesn’t work. But I don’t know if it was working before–not having used it all winter.
Is this plausibly caused by something the repair guys did (in which case the sooner I report it the better)? Or is this most likely coincidence, so the only thing which would motivate quicker repairs is driver liking for functional air conditioning?
Replacing a wheel and doing an alignment shouldn’t affect the AC.
When you turn the AC switch on, does it come on and blow non-cold air? It’s likely the AC needs recharged (i.e. it’s low on freon or whatever your car uses)
Does it not come on and blow air when you turn it on? Could be the switch or a fuse.
Yes, it comes on and blows non-cold air. Being low on freon or whatever is probably the problem.
I just had this moment of not quite panic thinking about the consequences of what if they did do something wrong to my car-- they’ll be more likely to accept blame and fix it without fuss (or cost to me) if I report it immediately, than if I wait a month (when it is more likely to be convenient to have repaired).
