Stellaris - 4X/Grand Strategy Hybrid from Paradox

I am thinking of doing some sort of creative writing project – a narrative walkthrough of a campaign, with some short stories taking place every so often in the history of my empire.

I’m thinking of doing a Human empire focused on the future of Earth. Any suggestions for civics?

I’ve been out of the loop, glad to see where the game is. Reading through the dev diaries, it looks like they’re stealing the best ideas from Victoria. I’m going to have to find time to play again. I’ll have to see the best way to model the British Empire.

Babale, before you get to civics, you need to decide which ethics and government type you have. Although, you could pick civics and back out what ethics and government you need.

So I take it that’s why I’ve seen people keep saying they’re about to release Victoria III. I thought it was something to do with the fact that Victoria II is the oldest of their main historical games (is it?) and that it was due for an update, but if they’re just incorporating all of it into Stellaris that’s probably what they mean.

I bought the original Victoria from GoG and played it for a few minutes to just poke around but I wasn’t all too excited about it. I think I’m just more interested in history in the times of CK and EU.

I agree with you, also Vicky1 wasn’t that good even when it was released. I tried to get into Vicky2 and never could quite manage it. In concept, fascinating; in execution, tedious.

Do an Imperium of Man run, with every civic to get more and better leader skill level maximums. Have your rank 8 God-Emperoras your viewpoint character, constantly exasperated at the idiocy of everyone around him.

No, I haven’t been watching If The Emperor Had a Text to Speech Device.

Bumping this to note they’re finally building in some galactic diplomacy

I bought a new Alienware laptop to game on and I was so pumped to play this game on it. Unfortunately, the UI and the planets are so small the game is unplayable. Paradox knows about this issue and are ignoring it.

On a more positive note, Steam allows you to choose which version of the game you want to play. Since DLC can dramatically alter the way the game is played this is a very welcome option.
