Good Christ! I think I have a compromise that’ll work for everyone. D’Anconia, you shut up with your asinine whining about running coach’s qualifications. Running coach, you don’t use a word that requires a diagnosis, and instead call D’Anconia terms that are accurate but don’t require diagnosis, like douchebag.
Nonsense. Time for bed, old man.
A code word? Take off the tin foil hat.
What of it? So was Dan Burros, or any of a number of Jewish collaborators with the German Nazi regime such as Stella Kübler or Anna van Dijk. Being Jewish certainly doesn’t preventing from being the racist sycophantic asshole persona he gives every impression of embracing, nor explain or excuse his tin pot fascist attitude and attempts to intimidate journalists. I’ll say it again: Steven Miller speaks and looks like a Schutzstaffel officer direct from Central Casting. He talks as if he learned English by watching and repeating cartoon Nazis from Indiana Jones movies.

If these immigrants are so smart, they’ll probably vote Democrat. Is that what Trump wants?
Well, having been ever anti-bolshevik, but not an expert in anything, I always knew that rootless cosmopolitan meant Jewish. Not here though & and only in the USSR when Koba was feeling cranky about his many many Jewish colleagues from the old days ( he certainly went for them latterly during the Doctors’ Plot, but to be fair he also wiped out a lot of non-Jewish folk most of the time ).
And foreign aid is obviously partially designed to keep the folks at home.
And not here.
Ah, so this is the thread where all the Trump supporters have been hiding. I’ve been wondering what had happened to them lately. Finally found something Trump has done that they can try to defend.
Miller also brought up another idea popular with the white nationalist crowd - that the poem on the Statue of Liberty is not original to it so the statue doesn’t reflect our values about immigrants.
It’s not too hard to see that if he mentioned one white nationalist idea, their definition of “cosmopolitan bias” fits in with his narrative.
He’s Steve Bannon’s kapo.
A little response and discussion: http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?p=20397912#post20397912
It’s almost as though Acosta brought up Lady Liberty because he knew she would trigger Miller. She did–and we got “Cosmopolitan” too. Twice. Miller & Bannon go way back–with Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III when he was a senator, opposing bipartisan immigration reform.
The late night comics mourned The Mooch’s premature departure; they were going to have fun with him. Miller has been mentioned to take his place; he also will supply plenty of material–of a more grim sort.
I don’t know about Oz, but I thought that UK citizens were not eligible to enter the Green Card lottery.
Hey, does that mean we don’t have to care about the “under God” bit of the Pledge of Allegiance anymore?
I’m afraid you have that backwards. I voted against Trump – but that doesn’t require a reflexive wag of my finger at each position he takes; ‘even a stopped clock’ and all that. If you ever see me “try to defend” something he’s done, consider the possibility that it’s despite Trump’s imprimatur rather than because of it.
If Trump and his retarded minions could craft a “whites only” immigration policy, would they? Of course they would. This is just a step in that direction.
It’s the Bannonites who push for this crap. I don’t think Trump himself particularly cares one way or the other as long as it works out to his benefit and greater glory.
I don’t think that Trump is actually particularly racist. You see, to be racist, you have to thing that “we” are better than “them”. For Trump, though, there is no “we”. There’s only “me”.
I think the guy who promised law and order for the cities and jobs for the rural folk is a racist scumbag. Or did I somehow miss his urban jobs program?
There are all kinds of populists. Trump appealed to the alt-right, racist dickbags because he spoke from the heart.
Miller made a godawful point that ineptly used a white supremacist dog-whistle, and it takes some serious contortions to claim otherwise.
Thing is, Acosta was being dumb, and Miller could have made a good response. Something like:
I think it’s reasonable to judge someone by words and actions – if they say and do things that can be fairly criticized as racist or bigoted, I think it’s perfectly fine to say they are racist or bigoted whether or not they actually believe it.
I don’t care if it’s a dog whistle or a frog whistle, but any topic that brings together the Kool-Aid Man of ignorance Clothahump; sentient carbuncle turned Bubble Boy Okrahoma, who brightens every room he leaves; five-time most hated kid at summer camp d’Anconia, aka the slightly feared (but mostly just intensely loathed) Typo-sniffer; and oc*<yawn>* octo*<yawwwwn>* (jeez, I’m sorry… got plenty of sleep last night, dunno what the deal is) octopus is a precious gift indeed.
