Yes. It made no sense. “Cosmopolitan” and “sheltered elitist” are two different things.
You know, based on your posting history and/or style, I can’t tell if you mean this or the exact opposite of this.
There is no basis for the dog whistle claim. It’s more liberal deflection. Who cares that Miller was absolutely correct? Let’s jump on one little phrase, twist it all out of proportion and make THAT be the issue. If we do that, then nobody will remember the fact that Acosta was a stupid jackass and Miller spanked him in public.
Dog whistle. Geez.
I agree— this fake “dog whistle” business is a real problem that needs a solution. Not piecemeal, either. Something final. If Acosta would stop whining and concentrate on his job, he’d be better off. Doesn’t he know that work will set you free? #pepethefrog #88 #HeyClothahumpThisIsARacistDogWhistleYouFuckingIdiot
Given the fact that people have cited that basis, why do you persist in making this false statement? You may disagree with that basis, but denying its existence is silly.
Nobody cares, since he was clearly incorrect, as folks have been discussing.
Do you have any reasons or evidence for your disagreement with the posts above, or are you handwaving them away?
It’s safe and warm inside that shell little turtle. No one can hurt you in that safe space baby snowflake.
What happened, doorhinge took the day off?
He generally doesn’t leave the dayroom on tapioca pudding day.
I’m not understanding why the repubs are pushing for educated immigrants, won’t that take good jobs away from educated Americans? Most people in this country won’t work field/crops jobs. Seems better sense to allow uneducated people in that will do the labor jobs that Americans turn their noses up to.
Which is worse, an individual who’s not the president lying about the danger of landing in Bosnia during wartime, or an individual who is the current president lying about any number of things daily? Are you implying Hilary’s and Donald’s lies cancel each other out? Do you think Hilary’s lies make it OK for Donald to lie? Are you concerned that a misstatement from 9 years ago will somehow destroy America? Do you see many opinion pieces suggesting things would be better if Hilary were in charge? Any other liberal boogeymen you want to bring up that you think somehow make Donald look pure and angelic?
If they’re here legally, they’re of no use picking crops. Those employers want illegal workers, they don’t complain about pay or working conditions.
Look, I don’t excuse Hillary for this lie. It’s the sort of self-aggrandizing lie that makes up about half of her repertoire of dishonesty, the other half consisting of self-excusing lies (“Wipe? You mean, like with a cloth or something?” fu Hillary). Makes my skin crawl.
Trump tells these lies almost hourly. But there’ not even remotely the worst sort of lie he tells: he also, constantly, tells lies about immigrants and Muslims and the media and whoever else he considers to be his enemy. These are far worse lies.
Hillary “superpredator” Clinton isn’t innocent of this variety, but she tells far fewer of them, as in, I have to reach back a quarter century or so to find one.
I do not see what point you are trying to make.
The original sentence makes no sense. Wouldn’t a “cosmopolitan bias” lead to a belief that more people speak multiple languages, including English? If anything, a rural bias would make more sense in that sentence. Unless Stephen Miller just thinks “cosmopolitan bias” means “wrong”?
“Cosmopolitan bias” means “Heil Hitler”. You’re welcome.

Shodan
I know this thread is about Miller’s use of the word “cosmopolitan,” but several other of his comments were eyebrow-raising as well. A noteworthy example was his dismissal of the poem: “The poem that you are referring to was added later. It’s not actually part of the original Statue of Liberty.”
I sort of wish Acosta had responded: “So you are saying, for example, that the amendments to the US Constitution aren’t part of the Constitution, as they were added later?”
It means democrat, it means liberal, it means progressive, so yeah, it means “wrong”.
I don’t know if he is even aware of the phrase’s anti-semitic roots, but he certainly meant it as “out of touch elitist”.
What would be kind of amusing would be if Miller really did not know the anti-semitic origins of the phrase, and Bannon got him to use it.
I am just not buying the argument that he doesn’t know what the word means to alt-righters.
Quote from Stephen Miller’s Wikipedia page:
He is not unfamiliar with anti-immigration white nationalists. He knows how they use the word cosmopolitan. He knows what they think about the poem on the Statue of Liberty.
I wonder if this will hurt Trump with his voters. He’s saying that the uneducated aren’t good enough for America–but the stupid and the uneducated make up the majority of his base. I guess the real benefit of being supported by idiots is that they don’t realize when you’ve insulted them, so maybe he’ll be OK.
By accusing Acosta of “cosmopolitan bias,” Miller was calling him a homosexual. Seems fairly obvious to me.
