Stephen Miller and cosmopolitan bias

He’s just another fucking Nazi. Another xenophobic white nationalist. In the White House. Are you surprised??? At this point, nothing should surprise you. The fucker even LOOKS like Goebbels.

He should be glad there is no intelligence test for staying.

It’s been so long since I’ve heard that that I forgot about that euphemism.

If you aren’t joking, then I still say that doesn’t really fit, either. What does being gay have to do with not understanding the world?

It’s like he inserted the opposite word because the one that would make sense–something like “backward hick”–would offend his constituents. Like someone calling you racist for pointing out racism.

Sigh. How the fuck am I supposed to respond to this? What am I supposed to do that won’t come off as condescending?

You changed your post. I was going to argue with your first claim, but then you changed the claim. You alternatively claim to not have changed it and to know that you changed it.

All I can think to do is this:

Your second claim is true. You argued it well. I certainly agree that it is a natural consequence that helping other countries will provide them with stability, which will decrease their likelihood to want to immigrate here. The consequential chain works.

Your other claim, which you’ve now repeated, I don’t agree with. I see no proof. Correlation is not causation. The fact that this happens is not proof that the U.S. actually does this intentionally. And seeing as most of our aid goes out to countries where illegal immigration is not really a threat, it seems quite unlikely.

Maybe you care about making that argument. If so, I suggest that you actually make it, instead of just assuming we’d all agree with you. If not, whatever.

But I’m just so tired of being singled out like I’m some special level of bad for just posting the same way as everyone else. Everyone comes off as condescending when they disagree. You did too. Spice Weasel, one of the nicest people on this board, comes off as condescending when she disagrees with me.

As far as I can tell, it’s just how you feel when someone corrects you.

And that’s not to say I have no faults. I have plenty. But I just cannot get this one. Mere condescension is supposedly a crime. Not mockery. Not snide remarks. But pointing out mistakes and being helpful is condescending and wrong. It makes no fucking sense.

If nothing else, Trump has this one accomplishment to his credit: he’s proven that a single person can be both a narcissistic solipsist and a racist.

Maybe he meant “continental”, like that SNL character Christopher Walken played. Would you like some sham-PAN-ya?

I must say, yes, whether strategic dogwhistle or just someone seeking to call someone else “you Big City limousine liberal snob”, it does seem a malapropism to use “cosmopolitan” to accuse of bias regarding English speakers.

Gotta love the fool’s “originalist” take on the Statue of Liberty, that it’s supposed to be America’s Liberty lighting the way for the rest of the world to make them be like us, not to come here. Problem is, the poem was written before the statue was erected as part of the fundraising campaign, and it was inscribed on the monument around 1900 so its interpretation has been associated with it virtually all along. (Meanwhile, at the same time, the other dude’s presumption about English Proficency meaning only Anglo Saxons allowed, when it is one of the world’s most widely used languages, did also amuse some of us second-languagers)

And also, greater stability means lesser chances that we may end up having to go over there and intervene directly to protect our interests. Because when it gets to that point we don’t know where it may end.

My best understanding is that Miller’s just not very clever on his feet. He was getting pissed at Acosta, and when he’s pissed at the media he tends to go to “liberal elitist cosmopolitan atheistic urban” word salad in his head. He vaguely realized Acosta was saying something kind of dumb, so he decided to call Acosta out–but he’s not smart enough either to call out Acosta’s mistake clearly, or to put an appropriate label on Acosta’s dumbness.

Here’s some friendly advice. Stop seeking approval. Just do your thing.

Nah, I get more of a Fredo Corleone vibe from Miller.

It is. Read it as

“Globalist Jew banksters”. Just like its original German/Russian useage was.

Now people refer to it as a “dog whistle”, because it’s so high pitched only Nazis can hear it.

But of course you understand it’s meaning perfectly well.

The meaning of this particular dog whistle was posted in the OP, w/ a cite.

I realize that I didn’t follow the liberal guidelines and end with childish name-calling. Deal with it.

That’s probably the type who works the pickers all summer and then calls “la Migra” the day before pay day.

Today seems like a good day to bump this thread.

I just skimmed through it and noticed that the Stephen Miller Defense Squad contained a predictable trio of banned posters… WillFarnaby, Clothahump, Okrahoma and and also predictable trio of active posting, white supremacy defending douchebags… D’Anconia, Shodan, and octopus.

You backed the wrong horse on this one fucknuggets.

Maybe I should have included this…
