Steve Allen—and other hot-off-the-presses deaths

Dangit, none of these people were in my death pool. The living are so selfish, not even trying to help me out.

Ah nerts… Steve Allen shared his birthday with me… Dec 26th. I’ll miss him too.

I would just like to mention that Steve Allen was a pretty good mystery writer. His mystery novels aren’t the best, but they’re good reads.

Steve Allen also pretty much invented the Late Night talk show as the first host of the Tonight Show. Anybody who is a Jay Leno/David Letterman/Conan O’Brian fan owes Steve Allen a debt of gratitude. Letterman will freely admit that his best bits are basically rip-offs of Steve Allen Bits, as are Krusty the Clown’s, as earlier mentioned.

I saw Steve Allen a few months ago on the Martin Short show and he didn’t look good. What did he die from?

I just checked out that Dead People Server. Interesting. But I’ve got to question at least one of them–Vickie Sue Robinson? I never heard anything about that one!

Steve died of a heart attack.

What a shame…I can’t say I was a huge fan of his (I guess a lot of his stuff was before my time), but I always respected and admired the work he did…

Steve wrote many books and two of my favorites (by ANY author) were his two about the errors and inconsistencies in the Bible. They’re available at Amazon.

I will miss him. (I made my sig line this morning and did not find this thread till just now.)

in honor of Steve Allen’s early humor:

SHMOK SHMOK!
