anybody catch this? I knew he took his music seriously but I was impressed by this paring of talent. Not a big fan of the banjo but this was great. After a crappy day at work this was such a pleasant surprise.
Not on Fallon, but they were on Letterman some time last week. As it happens I AM a big fan of the banjo so I’ve been excited about this album. I haven’t stuck with Edie Brickell consistently but I had and really liked a few of her early albums with New Bohemians.
I also heard a short radio interview with two tracks off the album. Good stuff all the way around.
I don’t typically watch Letterman, it was just chance that I caught it. I love when that happens.
Wow, I really enjoyed that! Thanks for sharing it.
Wow! Even after a couple of decades of pumping out Paul Simon puppies Brickell still looks (and sounds) pretty good! And what’s amazing about Steve Martin’s banjo playing is that he never took a lesson, he just taught himself how to play…
just watched the interview of the two of them on the show. The liner for the album is apainting done by Martin Mull. Damn you multi-talented bastards.
Hmm. I’ve never seen an entire album available from the label on YouTube.
Maybe they’re confidant that people like me will buy their music (which I just did). I was really caught off guard by the song “fighter” which is what they played on Jimmy Fallon. I had the same reaction I had when I heard Johnny Cash play “Personal Jesus” and “Hurt”.
Nice. Up next: Steve Martin and Edie McClurg.
I think it’s a trap. Like something out of Doctor Who- that video is sentient, Martin having plunked a sentient chord on the banjo that now will possess us all.
As long as it’s not the brown note. I want to be able to play this in my car.
The last time I heard Edie Brickell was on the Win 95 CD. Under extras was a music video Good Times. Loved that video. Always wondered what happened to her.
