Seagal’s star fizzled when he came out with the abysmal (and preachy) On Deadly Ground. Prior to that, he had made a whole bunch of successful low-budget action flicks (Above the Law, Hard to Kill, etc.) and one successful big budget flick (Under Siege).
Everything after On Deadly Ground has been horrid and (even worse) unsuccessful. (An exception might be the dull but mildly successful Executive Decision, but Seagal’s role is much smaller than his sharing top billing with Kurt Russell would indicate).
I bring this up only so I can link to the Jabootu review of On Deadly Ground, which may the the greatest review Jabootu has ever written. And that’s saying something.
