Thank you for the links, Chas.
I’ve mentioned this before, but I think the perfect bumpersticker for placing on SUVs in the dead of night reads HONK IF YOU THINK I’M AN ASSHOLE FOR DRIVING THIS THING.

Chas, you are entitled to your opinions about SUVs, which you’ve backed up nicely with some good links. I believe safety and the enviroment are issues open to debate, and you could make many strong arguments against SUVs. They are the least friendly because they are the largest and use a lot of fuel relative to other cars. Of course, if they were to vanish, the second worst vehicles would now be the worst, and if they were to vanish, etc, etc.
However, if you oppose SUVs, fatherjohn and his idea that you should go around slapping posuer stickers on such vehicles will never help your arguement.
To be honest, if I found an SUV ticket on my truck, I’d read it, especially if it made good points. If it were a “posuer” sticker, I don’t think any good points would have been made.
Now, we have to apply rule of common sense and call this behavior “stupid”. The “ticket” is a good idea. It’s really ane eye-catheing way of appealing to someone. That’s ok. Really…I own a truck, not really an SUV, but I could appreciate that someone is concerned about the enviroment.
Slapping stickers doesn’t help. We need a broad range of concern that informs many people about all types of vehicles and the ways to keep all cars friendly to the enviroment, etc.
Many cars are in disrepair, aren’t running right, have ignorant owners who dump oil or anitfreeze illegally, or wash the car with various chemical and run the into the sewers. Some folks buy beyond their means and don’t have vehicles kept up with maintenacne procedures - this hursts all of us - people driving on old tires, bad oil, out of tune, old pollution control devices and EGRs.
When the concern focuses itself on a narrow band of vehicle owners, the value of the argument is lost.
